Our Corporate Payroll Department is looking for a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Payroll Associate. In this critical role, the Senior Payroll Associate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for employees across multiple states. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a dynamic payroll department and make a significant impact on our organization's success.A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES Handling all aspects of timely and precise payroll processing for salary, hourly, freelance, and union employees while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulationsExporting and reconciling data from the time and attendance system, carefully reviewing and auditing timecard data for accuracy, and reconciling the payroll registerProcessing on-demand, retroactive, and one-time payments, as well as taxable fringe benefits, tax adjustments, and equity-based compensation, while adhering to company policiesUnderstanding and adhering to federal and state payroll regulations, especially focusing on FLSA, multi-state taxation, garnishments, and state wage and hour lawsAssisting employees and management with payroll-related inquiries and concerns, demonstrating effective communication, active listening, and technical expertiseInterpreting garnishment documents and promptly responding to employees, court staff, and attorneys, ensuring compliance with the required withholding ordersEnsuring proper taxation of all employee payments, including benefits and equity-based compensation provided by the employerWHAT YOU WILL NEED Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent experience5+ years of relevant payroll work experienceExperience with multi-state payrolls larger than 1,000 employees with various classifications (e.g., salary non-exempt, working students, foreign workers, etc.)Experience with public or pre-public companies involving share-based employee income reportingHigh-functioning, working knowledge of relevant payroll-related standards, taxable fringe benefits, processing stock transactions, federal and state payroll regulations (with an emphasis on multistate taxation and garnishments), and California Labor LawsStrong system and data flow knowledge, with an ability to learn and adapt to new flows and software technologiesIntermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUP and pivot tablesStrong communication skills, including the ability to listen to others' needs, comprehend complex matters, articulate issues clearly and concisely, and present effectively in both oral and written communications across all organizational levelsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, enabling you to make informed decisions and troubleshoot complex payroll issues effectivelyAbility to work both independently and collaboratively, fostering positive working relationships with colleagues and contributing to the overall success of the teamA team-oriented approach, effectively leading projects or participating as a team member and collaborating cross-functionally with other organizationsCapability to explain payroll calculations and deductions to employees and various levels of management in a clear and understandable mannerNICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER CPP certificationRecurring metrics tracking and analysisExperience with WorkdayExperience with Chronos#LI-DNIWe are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $37.00-41.00 per hour for California. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
