Role:
The Sr. Network Engineer is responsible for designing, installing, supporting and maintaining network services and infrastructure. They are also responsible for network performance, solving technical issues, updating job knowledge, ensuring network security, managing firewall changes, and providing service desk support for escalations. This position will work within Information Technology (IT), collaborate with Information Security, Facilities, other departments, and vendors to plan, design, implement and oversee all network services including virtual private networking (VPN), firewalls, Internet circuits, wireless, network routing and switching. As a member of the IT Infrastructure team, they will focus on the availability, reliability, capacity, and quality of these services using tools such as ThousandEyes, ExtraHop, Solarwinds and Sumo Logic.
What will the consultant be responsible for on a day-to-day basis?
- 7+ years of hands-on Cisco ore equivalent network configuration experience
- 5+ years of Tier 2 or higher firewall/network support experience
- 3+ years of supporting manufacturing systems
- 2+ years of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) configuration and troubleshooting experience
- Understanding of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) fundamentals (e.g. the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model, subnetting, Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), IP Address Management (IPAM), Remote Authentication Dial-In User Service (RADIUS), routing, switching, general networking technologies, network architecture and connectivity troubleshooting (wired and wireless)
- Experience upgrading Cisco network devices such as core switches, top of rack switches, and access switches
- Experience configuring firewall security policies, network address translation (NAT), remote user virtual private network (VPN), and site-to-site VPN tunnels
- Network performance analysis and monitoring experience
- Significant packet capture analysis experience and familiarity with tools such as Wireshark or tcpdump
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher required, CCNP preferred

- Customer requires a senior tenured person who can act without direction, lead tasks independently and conduct Network Assessments while being able to do extensive network tasks.
- Strong communicator, and able to work in a unique environment.
- Enterprise experience is very important.

They need to trust this person will analyze and explore every inch of network tasks in the building and surrounding workplace without seeking help.
