A Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer job is currently available at Belcan in Oldsmar, FL. This is a full time, direct job with full benefits. Great matching candidates will have knowledge/experience with 2D and 3D mechanical design and modeling, GD&T, layout of assemblies, sub-assemblies and components to establish spatial requirements and relationship of components to ensure functionality of design intent.
Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer job duties:
· Work in collaboration with design engineering in support of commercial and military aviation test equipment projects
· Create complete design layouts of assemblies, sub-assemblies and components.
· Create accurate Bills of Material for assemblies and maintain them throughout the product life cycle.
· Create production ready work instructions from detailed assembly and part drawings.
· Ability to reverse engineer parts from physical items, 2D drawings, and pictures.
· Verify design intent by checking proper fit-up of components using CAD and tolerance stack-up analysis methods (GD&T)
· Create detail drawings required for producing cost analysis, prototype parts and assembly fixtures.
· Support efforts to procure and build prototype hardware for testing of concepts.
· Apply basic mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of components, including static/thermal analysis, strength of materials, material selection and design optimization.
· Participate in design review meetings which will include presentation of design concepts
Qualifications:
· B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
· Minimum of five years electromechanical design experience with rotating machinery or relevant industry experience
· Experience producing CAD models of for design layouts, assemblies, sub-assemblies and components as well as detailed, and dimensioned technical drawings for prototype, development, test, and production components.
· Min. of 10,000+ hours in 3D CAD software. such SolidWorks. CREO is required.
· Experience with PLM WindChill
· 2000+ hours of experience in Autocad 2D.
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Strong analytical skills
· Knowledge of materials and processes for manufacturing and prototype fabrication.
· Ability to design assemblies that do not currently exist using the appropriate hardware, fasteners, materials, plating, adhesives, coatings, labels, buttons, switches, indicators, connectors, etc.
· Ability to work highly complex assemblies and deliver designs in a short time period.
· Legal authorization to work in the US required/US Citizenship ONLY
Desired but not required skills:
· Knowledge of common machine shop practice, manufacturing materials, equipment, processes capabilities and techniques used to produce high volume production components.
· Knowledge of common processes used in producing prototype components and fixtures
