The role of Senior ManagerOperational Excellence will report to the Associate Director of Operational Excellence. The individual will serve as a change agent in developing, coaching, implementing key business initiatives and improvements across the Site. This role requires a leader capable of actively preparing, equipping, and supporting all levels of leadership, as well as Site associates, in the deployment and support of Tiered Management and Lean Leadership to drive strategy and meet Site goals.
The role will be responsible for teaching, coaching, and role[1]modeling skills such as Go & See, Improvement/Coaching Kata, Hansei, GROW Model Coaching, and Structured Problem-solving to embed capability and create a culture of excellence in the areas of capacity, cost and or quality. Execution of efforts will be in conjunction with functional area owners within the CAR-T value stream including but not limited to Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MS&T), Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Process Development, Facilities Engineering, IT, EHS, Finance, and Regulatory.
Responsibilities:
  • Teaches, coaches, and leads the adoption of identified Culture of Excellence behaviors using Tiered Management, Lean Leadership, Change Management, and other Lean tools.
  • Creates or influences systemic change to drive desired results.
  • Identifies and corrects system engagement points that drive undesirable behaviors.
  • Drives tier board development to capture KPI's, solve problems and engage associates.
  • Develops site capabilities to integrate Lean Leadership behaviors in all levels of Site leadership.
  • Drives transformation.
  • Uses change management to articulate, advocate, and influence for the adoption of the Lean Leadership mindset to mitigate performance gaps.
  • Works with functional areas to transform business practices and processes resulting in ability to meet key site objectives.
  • Works with functional area owners to measure and analyze conditions leading to the mitigation of key performance gaps (Capacity, throughput, quality, etc.) through tiered management.
  • Develops and implements projects imparting Lean manufacturing tools and concepts.
  • Presents to site and or above site leadership.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Coaches, demonstrates, and encourages the use of LSS problem solving tools.
  • Demonstrates how Effective Measurement & Management (Tiered Management) combined with Lean Leadership skills can be used to proactively identify and mitigate issues.
  • Provides a resource to help functional areas take ownership through learned skills related to Continuous Improvement and problem-solving opportunities.
  • Supports OpEx growth through the implementation of change management practices and effective stakeholder engagement.

Knowledge & Skills:
  • Passion for excellence.
  • Must possess a strategic perspective, leading vision and values, global acumen, and leadership disposition.
  • Ability to work in a Manufacturing environment with well-rounded experience executing and leading projects on continuous improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, and Operational Excellence.
  • Must be skilled in strategic thinking, managing through systems, innovation management,
  • and negotiation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .
  • Understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as related to Pharmaceutical and Biotech Manufacturing.
  • Clear demonstration of the ability to lead through influence, effectively drive performance, build alignment, inform, negotiate and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of developing talent and effective people management including coaching, motivating and development planning in a multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to always communicate positively and effectively in a variety of complex circumstances. Must have experience delivering complex messages to various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated initiative, creativity, strategic capabilities, and ability to work effectively in complex, rapidly changing environments.
  • Ability to challenge the status quo to evolve business in more efficient and effective manner.
  • Deep experience in engaging and building relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly assess a complex scenario and utilize common scenario planning tools and techniques to offer project teams and management viable alternatives.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the talent and skill sets required to sustain innovation and long-term growth within a technical organizational.
  • Must possess strong verbal and communication skills, and a well-developed ability to constructively work across functional areas and levels to achieve results .
  • Expertise in project management principles and application including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; Ability to multi-task many projects and evaluate priorities with minimal supervision .
  • Proficiency in developing presentations to facilitate meaningful discussions, with clearly communicated analysis, findings, and impact.

Preferred Requirements:
  • B.S. Biomedical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering.
  • 7+ years working in GMP environment.
  • Proven experience in leading Continuous Improvement and Change Management/transformation efforts.
  • Demonstrates high degree of business acumen and communication skills, with ability to deliver executive level presentations, challenge assumptions, influence for change, and drive decision making.
  • Proven experience in developing KPI systems and applications .
  • Lean or Lean Six Sigma Certification.
  • Ability to lead and manage professionals.
  • Flexible and comfortable working with ambiguity.

Working Conditions:
  • Intermittent walking and sitting to perform job functions; however, ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time may be necessary.
  • Physical dexterity sufficient to use computers and documentation.
  • Sufficient vision and hearing capability to work in job environment.
  • Ability to lift to 25 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to work around laboratories and controlled, enclosed, restricted areas.
  • Cleanroom garments and personal protective equipment will be required in designated areas which cover head, parts of the face, core body, and legs/feet.
  • Makeup, gum, nail polish, or other potential microbial sources are prohibited in restricted areas.
  • Flexibility to don clean room garments and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean room environment is an enclosed, restricted space, with assigned pressure and temperature conditions. Reagents, chemicals, and exposure to sanitization agents are expected.
  • Routine exposure to human blood components.
  • Designated areas may prohibit food, any outside materials such as cell phones, tablets, at a minimum.
