Overall, Purpose: CompTIA Spark, the social innovation and impact arm of the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA), is seeking an experienced educator and curriculum designer to support the development of our new educational product for middle schools. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Development, the Senior Curriculum Designer is responsible for developing high-quality and engaging learning products for the middle school tech education market. This role will be responsible for aligning proven curriculum development principles with the latest in learning technology to develop engaging and effective learning products.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.Develop innovative, engaging, and effective lessons, projects, and activities that help students discover new interests in technology, build durable skills, and gain confidence in their abilities as a learner.Create all supporting resources for authored curriculum including assessments, rubrics, lesson plans, and standards alignment.Produce short, bite-sized instructional videos to accompany curriculum.When applicable, recruit, manage, and support SMEs to inform the development of relevant curriculum and learning activities.Lead user research, focus groups and other interactions with learners, instructors, and other stakeholders to gain feedback on CompTIA Spark's products.Conduct classroom observations to evaluate the effectiveness and quality of CompTIA Spark's products.Analyze usage and feedback data to inform curriculum development strategy and style.Stay up on the latest developments in the learning industry and apply them to CompTIA Spark projects.Proofread, edit, and perform quality control reviews of learning content.Supervisory Responsibilities:May grow to supervise additional curriculum developers.Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:Educational focus in teaching, instructional design, or curriculum development.10+ years of experience teaching STEM, Technology, or CTE at the middle school level.8+ years of experience with student centered learning, self-paced/directed instruction, or other innovative models.3+ years designing student learning activities in tech, cybersecurity, and IT.Bonus: qualifications in Instructional Design or a related field.Special Skills:Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Ability to deliver presentations and engage with upper management in discussions about learning design.Comfortability with the production (planning, filming, and editing) of high-quality instructional videos.Experience with IT subject matter a plus.Language Skills:Proficiency in the English languageComplexity Skills:Ability to competently communicate and add value to product development, marketing, and outreach efforts.Analytical Skills:High level understanding of MS Office required.
