TITLE:SENIOR GRAPHIC & COMMUNICATION DESIGNER
JOB GOAL:
The Senior Graphic & Communication Designer provides support to Madison's Communications & Marketing Department by creating engaging and high-quality graphics, videos, marketing and communication collateral that builds positive connections with families, staff, and the community. This position helps maintain the district's image, assists with internal and external visual and written communications and supports the coordination and execution of special events.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and interpret documents in English as well as the ability to write routine correspondence in English. Ability to speak effectively in English before groups of stakeholders or employees.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations / issues. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and verbal form.

Performance will be evaluated by the Executive Director of Community Relations & Marketing

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Possess high school graduate and/or college coursework related to graphic design, communications, marketing or public relations
- Graphic design, communications, marketing or public relations experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and strong knowledge of graphic design and communication principles and best practices
- Proficient with photo editing, graphic design and video editing software
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Gmail and Google suite of products
- Ability to work on a number of projects simultaneously
- Ability to plan and manage projects from concept to completion
- Ability to research, solve problems, and think critically
- Ability to research and understand key issues such as current legislation, current events/topics, proposals and educational programs and create clear and concise communications on a variety of topics and issues
- Possess a valid Arizona driver's license
- Relate to students, staff and public in a positive manner
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, communications, marketing or public relations field
- Proficient using Adobe Creative Suite applications - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier Pro
- Strong ability to write content, design visual communications and edit videos for a variety of purposes and audiences
- Experience in photography and videography
- Experience creating and managing websites using a content management system or html and css
- Experience coordinating and responding to news media requests and inquiries
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Create, design and coordinate the production of district marketing materials, advertisements, publications, videos and social media/online content
- Photograph and video record select school and district events and edit for various uses and methods
of distribution - Coordinate, gather and produce evergreen content for digital and print
- Write compelling and engaging content for a variety of different purposes and audiences
- Coordinate with publishers/printers on technical specifications, quotes, timelines, etc.
- Monitor and update district and school websites, social media accounts, and district information and presence on other online platforms
- Ensure brand consistency across platforms and content
- Assist with training of school and other district personnel in the creation of newsletters, publications and other materials and on the use of various communication tools
- Gather and track information, including photo releases, for recognition of students, staff and VIPs
- Manage schedule for coverage of events
- Maintain archive of district accomplishments and historical document archive
- Assist with large scale district events
- Support traditional and digital signage throughout the district
- Assist with news media requests and inquiries in coordination with Executive Director of Community
Relations & Marketing - Perform additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Community Relations & Marketing
