Senior Grants Manager – $70,000 - $85,000 Exempt – New York, NY
The Role
Are you an experienced grant writer with a talent for securing significant funding? Do you excel in cultivating relationships with institutional funders and have a passion for arts education?
As a Senior Grants Manager at Third Street Music School, you will play a pivotal role in securing the financial support necessary for our diverse range of programs. You will be responsible for identifying, nurturing, and maintaining relationships with corporate, foundation, and government funders. This role demands a blend of creativity and strategic thinking, as you will be crafting compelling proposals and reports that showcase the impact of our programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive and oversee the institutional giving program, including researching and identifying new funding sources and opportunities from foundation, corporate, and government funding streams
- Write, coordinate, and submit grant proposals, budgets, and reports in accordance with the annual grants calendar
- Bring in new grants through strategic prospecting, stewardship, and networking.
- Maintain and manage the annual institutional giving calendar to ensure Third Street’s fundraising efforts are on track, including meeting all proposal and report deadlines and implementing a regular schedule of cultivation/stewardship activities
- With the Director of Development and Executive Director, assist with the cultivation and stewardship of funder relationships to realize revenue goals through five- and six-figure grants
- Work in partnership with lobbyists to steward relationships with City, State, and federal elected officials to secure continued/increased support from government funding sources
- Collaborate with program staff to gather information needed for proposals and reports; identify new program opportunities for funding; coordinate site visits; and identify metrics/outcomes and data analysis for documenting grant and program impact
- Identify new corporate funders for underwriting programs and sponsoring fundraising/community events.
- Manage corporate volunteer events and pro-bono support if applicable
- Assist with the selection and supervision of development interns working on institutional giving projects
- Track and report out on institutional giving goals and progress
- In coordination with development staff, assist with gift processing and database management of institutional donors, as well as acknowledgement letters.

The Person
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum three years of relevant experience.
- Exceptional writing skills with a successful track record in grant proposal writing.
- Strong attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent project management and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of donor research tools and digital applications.
- Basic understanding of nonprofit finance.
- Experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred.
- A genuine appreciation for music, dance, the arts, and arts education.
