Summary:

The Sr. Director, Medical Affairs will establish the strategy and provide oversight and direction for a US MSL team. Responsible for all aspects of a MSL team, including supervision of field based MSL Managers and accountability for attainment of US Medical Affairs business objectives. The position will report directly to the Vice President of Medical Affairs and will be an integral part of the US Medical Affairs leadership team. They will be empowered to make decisions and drive results, which will require scientific subject matter expertise, strong business acumen, effective communication, and coaching/development skills.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute strategy for the effective and compliant field deployment of a Seagen MSL team
  • Build KOL strategy, including mapping, identification, and tactics
  • Managerial responsibility for MSL Managers/Directors
  • Work with the VP of MA, US medical directors, and other cross functional partners to develop and execute Medical Affairs strategies
  • Proactively optimize field strategy and refine tactical execution plan to support marketed products as well as portfolio pipeline process
  • Ongoing analysis and communication of MSL insights/market trends to develop key supporting strategies, scientific data gaps, and field materials needed to meet business objectives
  • Lead one or more cross-functional medical affairs project teams with the goal of developing and implementing an integrated medical strategy for Seagen products
  • Effectively interact with thought leaders to engage in scientific and medical exchange to meet the needs of patients and advance the field of study
  • Work with commercial franchise leads to assure compliant coordination between commercial and medical teams to support business needs
  • Coordinate with Clinical teams (Clin Dev and Clin Ops leadership) on strategic priorities and study support
  • Oversight and accountability for comprehensive training to field MSL team
  • Develop MSL-specific SOPs with the highest standards in Health Care Compliance

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs
  • Prior MSL leadership experience required
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and time management skills required
  • Must be able to work well within a dynamic environment and collaborate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Travel will be required
  • PhD, PharmD, MD

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry in Medical Affairs
  • 3+ years prior MSL leadership experience
  • Prior biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience in disease areas of interest
  • PhD, PharmD, MD

The hiring pay range for this position is $250,000 to $323,000 per year based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role. Other components of total compensation include a competitive equity grant at the time of hire (with additional annual grants, and grants upon promotion when applicable), and an annual bonus.
