Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Director, Managed Markets Marketing - Portfolio Strategy & Operations. This position reports to the Executive Director, Managed Markets Marketing, the Senior Director, Portfolio Strategy & Operations will lead a team responsible for the development and execution of portfolio access strategies and initiatives to address changes in the market access landscape, drive marketing innovation, increase customer engagement and support operational efficiency and effectiveness.
This opportunity is Foster City, CA based and not eligible for remote work.
Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, analyze, and provide insights on key healthcare market trends impacting commercial and government market segments to inform strategy development (vertical/horizontal integrations, payment models, customer engagement, healthcare policy, legislative influences, etc.
- Works closely with Legal, Government Affairs, and Policy to assess different scenarios and determine the risks/benefits and implications across the portfolio
- Develops and supports large national and regional customer strategies and initiatives through identifying, developing, and implementing innovative partnerships, programs, and services aligned to corporate and brand objectives (health equity, SDoH, disease care management, member education, etc.)
- Lead macro-market access strategy across the portfolio to optimize profitable access through scenario planning and risk assessments
- Collaborates cross-functionally to develop capabilities to strengthen the organization's competitive positioning with all market access stakeholders
- Develop customized channel/segment strategies and marketing initiatives to support organized customers (Kaiser, VA/DoD, Corrections, etc.)
- Collaborate with brand marketing, Global Value & Access, HEOR, and Medical to develop brand tools and resources to support next-level account engagement
- Proactively identify payer/IDN evidence generation needs and develop strategy and tactics to demonstrate product value through HEOR/RWE data and messaging
- Represent US Managed Markets to provide input and alignment of priorities with the global Integrated Evidence Plan (IEP) and value framework workgroup (e.g., ICER)
- Oversee digital and non-personal promotional strategy and tactics aligned to corporate and brand objectives
- Steer strategy, planning, and execution of key internal and external managed markets meetings and conferences
- Develops payer influencing mapping and maintains relationships with market access KOLs to keep a pulse on the evolving landscape
- Ensure the right technology and business processes are in place with appropriate governance, tools, and templates to enable KPI measurement, decision-making, and broad alignment across Managed Markets Marketing and cross-functional stakeholders
- Establish methods to drive operational consistency and process improvement across the managed markets team
- Develop and manage a library of market research, surveys, and other reports relevant to the managed markets marketing function
- Guide and drive ad hoc projects and innovative initiatives that support product access across the Gilead portfolio
- Create an environment where the team is highly motivated and engaged to work together and cross-functionally to deliver exceptional results and ensure long-term success.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory guidelines governing commercial and scientific interactions with healthcare professionals, payers, advocacy, and other business partners.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree and Fourteen Years' Experience
OR
Master's Degree and Twelve Years' Experience
OR
Ph.D. and Twelve Years' Experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- 14 years of experience in any of the following managed market areas: payer strategy & marketing, national account management, patient reimbursement services, pricing, contracting, or managed care consulting
- 5 years of experience in a leadership position in any of the above functions
- Advanced leadership skills and experience with demonstrated ability to hire and develop top talent
- Deep understanding of the US payer environment, payer market dynamics, payer marketing principles, and how managed care organizations make decisions across private & public channels
- Effective interpersonal, communication, analytical, project management, and organizational skills.
- Ability to execute under tight deadlines, juggle multiple tasks, and shifting priorities.
- Experience with translating strategies into measurable tactical programs (KPIs) that have a high impact and Return on Investment (ROI)
- Influence, resolve conflict, and drive consensus among cross-functional stakeholders
- Ability to solve problems that include many decision-makers and carry several options for solutions
- Comprehensive understanding of legal and regulatory issues impacting pharmaceutical product marketing and the dynamics driving the US healthcare environment.
