The ideal candidate should possess strong expertise in coding with C++, C, Matlab, Python, and a profound understanding of Physics and Nuclear Physics. This role is primarily research and development-oriented, emphasizing detector simulations, mathematical and statistical analysis, and inverse problems and optimization.

Responsibilities:

  • Semiconductor Detector Research: Lead and participate in advanced research related to Semiconductor Radiation Detectors, particularly CZT and CdTe detectors.
  • Coding and Software Development: Utilize your strong coding skills in C++, C, Matlab, Python, and other relevant languages to develop, optimize, and maintain software for data analysis, simulations, and control systems.
  • Detector Simulations: Create and run detailed simulations of Semiconductor Radiation Detectors using Geant4 and GATE to model particle interactions and validate detector performance.
  • Data Analysis and Monte Carlo Simulations: Apply advanced data analysis techniques, both practical and theoretical, and demonstrate expertise in Monte Carlo simulations and Python programming to extract meaningful insights from experimental data.
  • Experimental Expertise: Design and execute controlled experiments using radiation sensors of various types, including CZT and CdTe detectors. Strong knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP) is essential for signal analysis.
  • Device Characterization and Modeling: Conduct device characterization and develop mathematical models to understand and predict radiation detector responses through analytical or other models.
  • Inverse Problems and Optimization: Apply your strong mathematical and statistical background, particularly in inverse problems and optimization, to enhance detector calibration and data reconstruction techniques.
  • Publication and Patents: Maintain a strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and patents in the field, showcasing your contribution to scientific advancements.
  • Medical Device R&D: Utilize your extensive experience in research and development of medical devices, specifically related to Radiation Detectors and medical imaging.
  • Physics and Nuclear Physics: Apply your profound understanding of physics and nuclear physics to address complex research challenges. Candidates with majors in physics or nuclear engineering are highly preferred.
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Be comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding environment, contributing to both industry and applied research.
  • Additional Skills: Experience with semiconductor fabrication is desirable, but not required. Knowledge or experience in topics such as calibration, COMSOL, CUDA, device modeling, electronics, experimental physics, Linux, machine learning, medical physics, numerical analysis, object-oriented programming (OOP), optimization, programming, scientific computing, software development, system modeling, teamwork, technical presentations, uncertainty quantification, unit testing, VHDL, image processing, and Mathematica is highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • A Ph.D. in Physics, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of hands-on experience in Semiconductor Radiation Detectors, with a strong focus on CZT and CdTe detectors.
  • Proven experience in coding (C++, C, Matlab, Python) and software development.
  • Exceptional mathematical and statistical skills, with a focus on inverse problems and optimization.
  • A strong track record of peer-reviewed publications and patents.
  • Deep understanding of physics and nuclear physics.
  • Experience in research and development of medical devices for more than 10 years.
  • Comfort and familiarity with working in a fast-paced and demanding research environment.

This Senior Detector Scientist position offers a unique opportunity to lead groundbreaking research in Semiconductor Radiation Detectors, and contribute to the development of cutting-edge technologies with applications in medical imaging and beyond. If you possess the necessary qualifications and are eager to make a significant impact in this field, we encourage you to apply and join our dynamic team.
