We are a hybrid work firm seeking a Senior Designer in the DC Metro area to work on a variety of projects.POSITION SUMMARY
Senior Designers are expected to formulate designs based on client program and within the constraints of local design guidelines. They are expected to research local ordinances, site conditions, and building materials to generate design solutions and solve problems encountered independently. Guidance from senior team members will be available for more complex issues, and as needed to present designs to municipal design review boards.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use graphic design software and physical modeling tools to produce design exhibits, such as renderings, presentation packages, and models to convey design goals at various stages of the project schedule.
- Coordinate research efforts as needed in support of design goals.
- Provide verbal and graphic presentations of design progress.
- Coordinates and executes routine discipline tasks including diagramming, modeling, detailing, and drafting.
- Understand and use current company CAD/Revit standards and procedures in the production of design drawings and exhibits and help teach these standards to more junior staff.
- Facilitate design coordination processes between RDC-S111 and clients, governmental agencies, tenants, and consultants.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 or more years of experience in architectural practice with focus on design development.
- Understanding of architectural site planning, design development and graphic presentation.
- Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Revit (latest version) and other graphic and business software and their application in developing and presenting design documents.
- Effective English communication skills (conversational and written) for presenting to clients, design review boards, and for ongoing project collaboration and documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program and/or architecture license is preferred.
- Experience with the retail typology is a plus.
