Job description

We are seeking a Senior, Cryptographic Analyst to support a DoD/Allied Cryptographic Modernization Action Group (CMAG) requirement to assess the cryptographic capabilities, status, and modernization plans of U.S. coalition partners. The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Cryptologic Transformation Section (AFLCMC/HNCAM) Crypto Mod 2 (CM2) Program Management Office (PMO) requires support to develop and implement processes for gathering coalition partner CM plans and identify communication security risks to achieve secure and interoperable communications in a coalition environment across critical air, ground, space, and NC3 domains. This work is located on Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) - Lackland, San Antonio TX.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and analyze cryptologic data collected.
  • Produce visual depictions of each partner's status and modernization plans for the CMAG.
  • Develop a collection and query mechanism for data gathered.
  • Retained and perform analysis on all raw data in original form with source information attached.
  • Scrubbed data shall be kept in an exportable format that can easily be imported into Microsoft Excel or similar application.
  • Data must be searchable and sortable.
  • Formats shall be consistent with the Data Collection Template and support biweekly Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings in support of the CMAG's priorities.
  • Lead CMAG related meetings as required and provide technical assistance, status updates, and for adjustments and clarification to country analysis prioritization.
  • Provide monthly deliverables that include partner nation's cryptographic point of contact (POC) list, documented processes for obtaining partner information and updates, and the raw country specific cryptographic data in previously defined formats.
    • An acceptable example would be a searchable Excel workbook with pivot tables for a user-friendly searchable dashboard.
    • Data shall be sourced data with relevant dates that can produce data visualizations such as graphs, heat maps, waterfalls, etc. and be provided as monthly updates to data and reports (visual depiction).
  • Provide monthly updates on processes and lessons learned. This shall include documenting overall process development, such as how the information is gathered and best practices, and engagement with in-country cryptographic custodians.
    • Deliverables shall include data calls and questionnaires for partner nations in addition to coordination with other U.S. Services who are the Lead Service Provider (LSP).
  • Ensure meeting minute reports are submitted following each meeting with the various point of contacts and or associated entities in support of the DoD/Allied CMAG effort.
  • Coordinate and lead the CM2 DOD/Allied CMAG IPT on a bi-weekly basis or as necessary to meet stakeholder requirements and ensure IPT meeting minutes are delivered.
  • Produce visual status report (monthly/as needed) on crypto status for the CMAG.
  • Ensure the creation of database/tool to collect raw data in specified formats that can be queried and easily sorted.
    • Ensure the format is consistent with the Data Collection Template and supports biweekly IPT meetings in support of the CMAG's priorities.
  • Develop updates to support the monthly CMAG meetings as required to provide technical assistance, status updates, and for adjustments and clarification to country analysis prioritization.

  • Provide monthly updates on processes and lessons learned.
    • Includes documenting overall process development, such as how the information is gathered and best practices, and engagement with in-country cryptographic custodians.
    • Deliverables include data calls and questionnaires for partner nations in addition to coordination with other U.S. Services who are the Lead Service Providers (LSP).
  • Ensure reports are delivered following all meetings with the CM2 DOD/Allied CMAG IPT (and/or associated entities).
  • Ensure report items requiring action are delivered to the Government Program Manager leading the Crypto Modernization Action Group (CMAG) team with sufficient time to meet response requirements of the users and other host platforms.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Work requires the ability to communicate and precisely organize and present data from other nations, NATO, other services, the DoD, and multiple USAF organizations.
  • Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk; sit; use hands to handle, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Physics, etc.)
  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience providing cryptographic systems support
  • Experience drafting highly technical documentation, briefings, and reports
  • Experience leading Integrated Product Teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate highly technical information both orally and in writing
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Knowledge of DoD Acquisition and Risk Management processes
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of contributors in a fast-paced and demanding environment is essential

Required licenses or certifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance
