About the role
As a Senior Construction Portfolio Planner within our global Project Management Office (PMO) team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our global data center Construction Portfolio. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain a multi-year portfolio plan that aligns with the company's strategic objectives, with a particular emphasis on enhancing asset reliability, increasing cooling and IT capacity, and improving the safety and security of our data centers.
What you'll do
Portfolio Planning:
+ Improve the portfolio plan encompassing various programs and projects within Construction Portfolio.
+ Make sure that the plan is aligned with the overarching strategic objectives and priorities while considering budget constraints and capital planning.
Strategic Alignment:
+ Collaborate with senior management and partner teams to make sure that the plan is fully aligned with partners' strategic goals, focusing on improving asset reliability, enhancing cooling / IT capacity, and enhancing data center safety /security.
Resource Analysis:
+ Analyze resource constraints across multiple teams, programs, as well as projects within the portfolio.
+ Identify potential resource gaps or bottlenecks and provide recommendations for resource optimization and allocation
Advanced Planning Techniques:
+ Stay abreast of industry-leading techniques
+ Apply these techniques where relevant to build up the planning process and adapt to changing market conditions, ensuring a balanced approach to portfolio planning.
Risk Management:
+ Assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with the plan, particularly those tied to budget constraints, capital planning, and more
+ Develop strategies to mitigate risks and maintain a proactive approach to risk management
Financial Planning and Capital Allocation:
+ Work closely with capital planning, optimizing the allocation of funds and resources to projects to reduce financial opportunity loss due to over-optimistic planning.
Stakeholder Engagement:
+ Engage with various stakeholders, including senior executives, project managers, and cross-functional teams.
+ Capture input and ensure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of all relevant parties.
Performance Metrics and Balanced Scorecard:
+ Establish key performance indicators and metrics to measure the success of the portfolio plan, including financial performance and adherence to the Balanced Scorecard framework.
+ Regularly manage and report on progress toward achieving strategic objectives from a balanced perspective.
Documentation:
+ Maintain comprehensive documentation of the portfolio plan, including project details, timelines, resource allocation, and risk assessments, with a specific focus on capital planning and budget constraints within the context of the Balanced Scorecard.
Continuous Improvement:
+ Continuously assess and refine the portfolio planning process, incorporating feedback and lessons learned to enhance the effectiveness of the planning process over time while maintaining a balanced approach.
What you'll need
+ Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
+ 7 years of proven experience in portfolio planning, program management, or a similar role.
+ Strong understanding of complex construction and associated technologies.
+ Proficiency in portfolio management software tools like P6, MS Project, Smartsheet etc
+ Knowledge of Agile methodologies and other industry-leading planning techniques.
