PURPOSE
The Senior Buyer supports the organization by developing and executing purchasing strategies, tracking metrics to reduce expenses, negotiating contracts, and managing vendors for three manufacturing facilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Ensure materials offer optimal machine and line efficiencies at the plant level
- Develop cost saving supply plans based on total cost of ownership
- Negotiate price and contracts with suppliers
- Understand and report on material cost drivers and variances between markets
- Create and review short and long-term forecasts with Suppliers
- Lead cross functional teams through critical inventory discussions
- Develop and execute material transition strategies
- Develop tools to aid in maintaining and reporting inventory levels
- Issuing, tracking and updating purchase orders for materials
- Lead both internal and supplier business reviews
- Maintenance of ERP system to ensure accuracy
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Senior Buyer manages spend across multiple categories of goods utilized to produce Daisy Brand products. These categories include, but are not limited to packaging materials, ingredients, chemicals and utilities through the creation and implementation of sourcing events. This position leads cross functional participants through the sourcing process ensuring organization alignment based on supplier capabilities, capacities, pricing and most importantly efficiencies within Daisy Brand production plants.
The milk and cream settlement process will also be managed by the Senior Buyer. Responsibilities include ensuring accurate lab test and weight results in system, review and correction of supplier invoices and ensuring payments are based on correct market price.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business Administration
- 5+ years experience in Purchasing or Supply Chain
- Experience in manufacturing industry desired but not required.

- Understanding of Purchase to Pay Process
- Understand Enterprise business relationships and how role impacts others
- Strong understanding of the financial aspects of capital expenditures, ROI, NPV, cash flow, total cost of ownership, etc
- Ability to develop and implement a well-thought-out sourcing and inventory control strategy
- Strong analytical, research and negotiation skills
- Experience with advanced Microsoft Excel functionality
- Logical thinking processes and problem solving expertise
- Ability to travel up to 20% depending on project requirements
