We believe that inclusion helps us thrive and grow at United across our collaborative Finance teams consisting of Financial Planning & Analysis, Internal Audit, Treasury, Global Procurement, Controllership, Investor Relations and more. These teams provide the financial fuel that keeps our operation running from providing detailed analyses of financial planning, performance, and forecasts to managing our investments and financial strategies. Our Finance team plays an integral role in making our airline profitable and successful by meeting our financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for assisting in the monthly financial statement close and consolidation process. Monthly account reconciliation and journal entry responsibilities may include areas such as derivative instruments, investments, frequent flyer valuation, employee benefit compensation, stock compensation, intercompany eliminations, and subsidiary consolidation. Assist in the preparation of relevant SEC 10-Q/K footnotes and related disclosures.
- Preparation of consolidated financial statements and preparation of quarterly and annual SEC disclosures on forms 10-Q, 10-K
- Accounting for complex areas such as derivatives, investments, frequent flyer, employee benefits, stock compensation, intercompany eliminations, subsidiary consolidation, and other areas
- Preparation and filing of various government and other regulatory agency reports (e.g., DOT Form 41)
- Preparation of monthly variance analyses and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Adhoc projects (e.g., Impairment analysis of intangible assets, employee benefit plans financial statements, account reconciliations review, etc.)
- Debt covenants compliance analysis (e.g., FCCR calculation)

Qualifications
What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
- CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
- 3-5 years in accounting
- Ability to prepare and review financial statements and reconciliations, accurately and in conformity with GAAP
- Ability to maintain effective controls in compliance with United’s related internal control environment
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while meeting deadlines
- Ability to handle competing priorities and working within deadlines
- Ability to resolve assigned issues and improve processes
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
