What is a MSP (Managed Service Provider)?

Many businesses (especially those in the small / medium category) will often outsource some or all of their IT support needs rather than hiring & managing an internal IT dept. That's where Olmec Systems comes in. For a fraction of the cost, Olmec & it's team of technology experts provide the exact same (but almost always considerably better) level of support that an internal Network Admin, System Admin, and Helpdesk team would provide. Olmec Systems is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days out of the year. When we are not working directly w/ end-users on day to day support requests, we are proactively managing & monitoring the network / server infrastructure and planning / designing future network enhancements.

Summary

The Security Specialist will be responsible for the deployment of New Charter’s standard security stack within Olmec Systems, building deep subject matter expertise in selected security tools and acting as a security evangelist within the organization. In addition, the Security Specialist will be responsible for working escalated security tickets associated with Olmec System's security tools, be heavily involved in incident response, and will act as the primary liaison between Cyber74, our MSSP and Olmec Systems.

Primary Responsibilities

• Interface with Olmec Systems clients and internal service and project departments, acting as the main liaison between Cyber74 and Olmec Systems.
• Highly engaged with the Cyber74 team in effectively managing local security operations.
• Attend and actively participate in all Cyber74 educational and collaborative meetings and partner with company leadership to cascade communication to partner company stakeholders.
• Consult with key stakeholders regarding information system vulnerabilities and how to remediate them in an understandable and educational format.
• Partner with Cyber74 to establish and maintain standard operating procedures to further secure client and internal data and empower staff with security education.
• Act as a Cybersecurity evangelist, sharing enthusiastically about Olmec Systems and Cyber74 tools and processes internally and to clients.
• Own deployment and ongoing management of New Charter’s standardized security stack, managing the daily administration of security related environments.
• Support and enforce a disaster recovery, security and backup and restore plan.
• Lead and manage efforts to continually increase Olmec Systems security, acting as the primary owner of internal security for the organization.
• Confer with clients/end-users and engineers to s equipment, process, and solutions necessary to reduce risk footprint.
• Monitor security tickets, taking responsibility for resolution, partnering with internal resources and Cyber74 as needed. Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve security issues associated with systems/servers and Network services.
• Monitor security related network performance and perform testing to provide diagnosis of issues and to assist with deployment of solutions.
• Monitor and analyze emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits, ensuring up to date patching for all products within the security stack.
• Harden the configuration of devices and networks utilizing best practice with minimal interruption.
• Work with Olmec Systems leadership to ensure the proper balance between enabling and securing, in relation to the client's organization, culture and ecosystem.
• Travel to visit prospects and customers to engage in on-site client work, including implementing products and services as required.

Skills & Experience

• 2-4 years’ experience as a network/systems administrator (Level II Engineer)
• Security specific systems/network engineering experience
• Knowledge of Endpoint Detection and Response systems (EDR)
• Knowledge of SIEM solutions and their appropriate use
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms like Microsoft’s Office 365/Azure or Amazon Web Services
• Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• MSP experience is a plus

Salary starting at $80,000 and up DOE

• Can work on their own and be trusted to complete their tasks - They should also be able to follow instructions when required
• Has no problem creating and updating detailed documentation and entering notes into our time management system

• Is not afraid or too complacent to point out areas or processes that could use improvement, whether on a client's network or within our own company
