Description:

Full-time Earlly Childhood School Social Worker position available for the 2023-24 school year, based out of the Altoona Regional Office, serving children ages birth to 5 years and their families in the Southeast Polk school districts with specific building assignments to be determined. This position will have a 192 day contract and provide services for the identification, evaluation, and educational programming of children. This position will coordinate IFSPs and IEPs, provide direct service in the home, and work closely with families and the school district in implementing the transition plan as a child is turning 3 years old and transitioning from Early ACCESS. This position will be responsible for adaptive behavior and behavioral programming, and training/experience in Applied Behavior Analysis, successful experience in completing FBAs, developing BIPs, and modeling/coaching social, emotional, and behavioral strategies are required. This role will encourage local school districts, early childhood programs, and community organizations to implement evidence-based, developmentally appropriate practices, to encourage the active involvement of families in the learning process, and to collaborate effectively with community agencies designed to support the needs of families.

Qualifications:

Candidates will need strong interpersonal and consultation skills, skills in providing direct instruction to children in home, community, and early childhood settings, as well as evidence of effective teamwork and partnerships. Candidates must possess a strong ability to communicate with parents, school staff and community resource staff and be able to involve them in a problem solving approach. Experience assessing and programming for students with significant behavioral and cognitive and communication needs and experience working in Early ACCESS and early childhood settings are required. Experience supporting systemic school improvement in social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health (SEBMH) within tiered systems of supports is desired. Candidates must be appropriately licensed/certified by the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (or have the ability to obtain a license) and possess a master's degree in social work. Basic computer and technology skills are required. Bilingual abilities are a plus, but not required.
