The Regional Sales Director is responsible for leading the Tempel regional sales team in driving profitable sales growth by developing and executing strategic plans to achieve sales targets, expand the customer base and build/maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships. Manages annual objectives setting, coaching, performance monitoring and recruiting of Sales team.
This role will support the Northeast territory; ideal locations in Detroit, Toledo or Cleveland.
Primary Functions:
- Design and implement a strategic business plan that expands Tempel's customer base and ensure its
- strong presence.
- Achieve growth by managing, developing, coaching and motivating the sales force to grow the regional business and to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.
- Establish sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories.
- Forecast expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products.
- Investigate and establish sales potential for key markets and aid in the development of a tactical sales plan to achieve growth objectives tied to new business opportunities.
- Manage sales volume, product mix and selling price by constantly monitoring supply and demand, changing trends, economic indicators, and competitors.
- Provide on-the-ground support for sales associates as they generate leads and close new opportunities.
- Build and promote strong, long-lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
- Ensure the regional sales forecast is constantly updated and present monthly sales forecasts to the management team.
- Identify emerging markets and market shifts while being fully aware of new products and competition status.
- Works with the regional sales team on the review of customer specifications, prints and other customer documents and coordinates with Corporate Pricing to prepare cost estimates and quotes.
- Implements key account management sales techniques at top regional/global accounts and works closely with key decision makers, such as purchasing, engineering, management, or other professional and technical personnel to value sell and drive profitable sales growth.
- Assists Marketing and regional sales team towards the successful introduction of new products. Works closely with Marketing and makes recommendations for new product ideas, market penetration, pricing, and profit improvements.
- Acts as a resource to sales team in contract negotiations and supply agreements.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; Review
- professional publications; Establish personal networks; Participate in professional societies.
- Represents Tempel at trade shows and industry trade meetings, as needed.
Desired Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in Sales and Sales management.
- At least 15 years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering industry.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or equivalent technical degree.
- Knowledge of the motor, generator, transformer industries is desirable
- Must be able to travel (60% travel)
- Work remotely, but within the region and with easy access to a major airport.
