Job Summary


The EHS Coordinator's works with the Corporate Safety Leader and Corporate Environmental Leader to implement programs, policies, and assessments to ensure Pioneer Metal Finishing is in compliance with all federal, state and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and to ensure a safe environment for all employees, visitors, and contractors.  The EHS Coordinator monitors all environmental and safety programs within a division and is responsible for ensuring continued compliance.


 


Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities

 



  • In conjunction with the CSL and CEL, delivers training programs on EH&S policies, procedures, and regulations to front line employees & supervisors.

  • Ensures necessary records and reports are maintained and prepared according to established federal, state, & local government guidelines as well as Pioneer best practice guidelines.

  • Responsible for environmental compliance for all federal, state, & local regulations related to their division. 

  • Keeps abreast of federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations. Recommends modifications to policies and procedures as required when laws and regulations are changed or developed



  • Serves as a point of contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies as directed by the CEL and the CSL

  • Partners with divisional leadership to promote health, safety, and environmental topics. Drives activities needed to achieve results; creates a safety-first culture with employees.



  • Coordinates monthly safety & environmental meetings with division employees & leadership.



  • Investigates and responds to employee safety concerns.

  • Implements effective emergency response action programs.



  • Partners with Human Resources on Workers’ Compensation claims investigations, modified duties, and return-to-work programs. Accurately documents and records confidential information; maintains employee and company confidentiality.



  • Coordinates accident/near miss investigations and develops corrective action plans for all significant incidents.

  • Actively participates on division safety committee and ensures they have all the procedures and tools required to be successful.



  • Performs audits to ensure compliance within EH&S programs. Determines and implements corrective actions which may include follow-up testing and training for current and new employees.

  • Maintains SDS sheets for the facility per the GHS standards.

  • Evaluate new process technology or chemistry as they relate to quality, cost reductions, safety, impact on regulatory and environmental requirements.

  • Responsible for the packaging, labeling, storage and disposal of all the hazardous waste produced by the company.

  • Approve all necessary documents and contracts with regard to transporting and disposal of waste.

  • Helps to ensure target safety KPI’s are met.


 


Physical/Environmental/Chemical Hazards



  • Sharp parts, sharp tooling, heavy carts, occasional hot and cold temperature and humidity levels, heat from ovens, moderate noise levels, limited hand and air tool use, compressed air (must use hearing protection).

  • Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs. unassisted.

  • Potential splash exposure near process lines.

  • Various chemicals used in process.


 


Education/Qualifications



  • Associate’s degree in Occupational Safety and / or Environmental or 1-3 years of related industry experience. 



  • Prior experience working with Safety programs.

  • Ability to create and maintain a safety culture.

  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour course in General Industry and Construction preferred

  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 Regulations



  • Proficient computer skills, including skills with Microsoft Office and ERP software.
