Salary Range:    $16.00 - $16.00 Hourly

Description

Purpose for the Position:

To supervise work activities of cleaning personnel and inspect hotel guestrooms, bathrooms, corridors and lobbies.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Assigns work to cleaning personnel and trains personnel in housekeeping duties.
  2. Posts room occupancy records.
  3. Adjusts guests’ complaints regarding housekeeping service or equipment.
  4. Writes requisitions for room supplies and furniture renovation or replacements.
  5. Reports need for room redecoration to Housekeeper.
  6. Examines carpets, drapes and furniture for stains, damage, or wear.
  7. Checks and counts linens and supplies.
  8. Records inspection results and notifies cleaning personnel or inadequacies.
  9. May perform cleaning duties.
  10. All other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor.

 

Skills and Abilities:

  1. Use hands to lift, carry or pull objects that may be heavy.
  2. Understand simple instructions.
  3. Learn simple procedures and techniques.
  4. Perform routine work or the same task over and over again.
  5. Plan the work of others.

Physical Demands:  Light work:  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree, or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls, or requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible.

 

Environmental Conditions:  Inside:  Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.  A job is considered “inside” if the worker spends approximately 75 percent or more of the time inside.

 

Reasoning, Mathematical and Language Development are indicative of the general level of development required to do this job.  Some, but not necessarily all, areas mentioned in this section will be included in this job.

 

Reasoning Development:  Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.  Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.

 

Mathematical Development:  Add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.  Perform the four operations with like common and decimal fractions.  Compute ratio, rate, and percent.  Draw and interpret bar graphs.  Perform arithmetic operations involving all American monetary units.

 

Language Development: Reading: Read and understand instructions, safety rules, etc.  Writing: Write reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.  Speaking: Speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English and well modulated voice.

 

Relationships to Data, People and Things:

     Data: Coordinating: Determining time, place, and sequence of operations or action to be taken on the basis of analysis of data executing determination of and/or reporting on events.

      People: Supervising: Determining or interpreting work procedures for a group of workers, assigning specific duties to them, maintaining harmonious relations among them and promoting efficiency.  A variety of responsibilities are involved in this function.

     Things: Handling: Using body members, hand tools, and/or special devices to work, move, or carry objects or materials.  Involves little or no latitude for judgment with regard to attainment of standards or in selecting appropriate tool, object or material.

 

Specific Vocational Preparation:

 

Specific Vocational Preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on-the-job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.

 

Over 1 year up to and including 2 years.
