Position: Risk & Safety Manager
Location: Lodi, CA
Schedule:
1st Shift: Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 4:30pm
Job Description:
Monitors, develops, implements workplace activities to promote a safe environment for customers and employees, insuring employee compliance with all applicable safety regulations.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems; provides expert guidance on best practices for identifying and reducing exposure to dangerous/hazardous conditions; and, develops policies, procedures, programs, to reduce workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates; develops, implements and conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to insure compliance within the workplace and assess employee compliance with safety regulations; drafts reports, highlighting dangerous procedures, machinery, and other risks for management review; tours store facilities and communicates with workers to identify safety risks and concerns.
- Reviews employee (and customer?) accident and incident reports, make recommendations for prevention and corrective action, coaching and mentoring store management for improvement; develops and implements a system to report, monitor, and correct safety problems.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Cooperates with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) representatives and internal safety staff during formal store/warehouse audits and inspections; documents corrective actions taken; investigates and response to OSHA complaints.
- Develop and provides technical and administrative support for the safety committee.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three years of related experience required.
- Previous experience in trucking and warehouse experience and/or retail and grocery experience required.
- Extensive knowledge of company safety policies and applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards.
- Ability to identify unsafe situations or potentially unsafe situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to conduct training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software
