The Retail Shop Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient operation of the retail store. The job involves assisting customers with their purchases, processing transactions, restocking shelves, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and appearance of the store.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greeting customers and answering their questions about products and services.
- Assisting customers in making purchasing decisions by providing recommendations and information about products.
- Processing sales transactions, including operating cash registers, handling money and processing credit card payments.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records by monitoring stock levels and restocking shelves.
- Creating attractive product displays to encourage sales.
- Maintaining a clean and organized store by performing regular cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
- Performing opening and closing duties as required, including unlocking and locking the store, turning on and off lights, and setting up and closing down the cash register.
- Keeping up to date with product knowledge and new products in the store.
- Effective communication skills with guests, customers, peers, and management alike.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to use the Point of Sale system
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic math and computer skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects. Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb a 3-foot ladder and stand for up to 8 hours a day.
Working Conditions:
The Retail Shop Clerk works in a retail store environment and may be required to stand for extended periods. The job may also involve bending, stooping, and lifting heavy objects. The work schedule may include weekends and evenings.
