The Marriott Orlando Downtown Hotel in Orlando, FL is searching for a Restaurant Manager to join our team. Located in the Creative Village in downtown Orlando, the hotel has 297 guest rooms with views of the downtown Orlando Skyline. This great full-service Marriott Hotel has 15 meeting rooms with 15,992 sq. ft of space, an onsite Starbucks, Shade Bar and Grill, Fitness Center, and Outdoor Pool.
Job Summary
A Restaurant Manager is in charge of all Hotel Restaurant Operations including our Shade Bar and Grill, Starbucks, Fresh Bites and M Club are all running smoothly, and our guests are enjoying their experience. The Restaurant Manager’s quest is to create a motivational work environment for our talented associates so they create memorable experiences for our guests. Juggling the operations, guest service, associate relations and financial responsibilities.
Duties & Functions
- Manages the operations of the Shade Bar and Grill, Starbucks, Fresh Bites and M Club to ensure excellent service from point of entry to departure.
- Implement company programs as required to ensure compliance with standards, safety regulations and federal and state regulations to ensure optimal level of service, quality and hospitality are provided to the guests.
- Use your innovative spirit to create, recommend and implement promotions, displays, buffet presentations and ideas to capture more in house guests and a larger share of the local market.
- Be a hands-on manager and a resource to your associates, by understanding associates positions well enough to perform duties in associates' absence.
- Proactively meet guests during meals or upon departure to obtain feedback on quality of food and beverage, service levels and overall experience.
- Respond to all guests’ requests, problems, and concerns presented in person or through comment cards, letters and/or phone calls, in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner. Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Evaluate levels of Guest satisfaction and monitor trends, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Post and communicate all guest satisfaction results including all guest satisfaction forms, comment cards and guest letters.
- Understand associate and guest satisfaction results and developing game plans to attack need areas and expand on the strengths.
- Create an environment that’s engaging, where motivated people want to join, learn, do their best, and advance.
- Prepare and conduct all interviews and follow hiring procedures according to policy. Actively support Human Resources with recruiting efforts.
- Display a positive, hands-on leadership style to attract, retain and motivate the associates; hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach and counsel, conduct performance and salary reviews, resolve problems, provide open communications and recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate.
- Solicits associate feedback, utilizes an "open door" policy and reviews associate satisfaction results to identify and address associate problems or concerns.
- Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with associates and ensures associates do the same within the team.
- Identifies the developmental needs of others and coaches, mentors, or otherwise helps others to improve their knowledge or skills.
- Provides the leadership, vision and direction to bring together and prioritize the departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
- Set the tone and help your supervisors/Assistant managers to lead their talented and innovative teams. Clear the way for them to guide, inspire, transform conflict into effective problem solving, enabling cohesive teams to ensure optimal guest experience and realize business and financial goal achievement.
- Ensures recognition is taking place across areas of responsibility.
- Forecast, implement, monitor, control and report on the various outlet budgets and their components (labor costs, food costs, beverage costs, supplies, equipment, etc...) to maximize revenue and minimize expenses while ensuring adequate supplies and staff are on hand to provide top quality guest service.
- Follow procedures for processing payroll correctly to ensure correct payment of associate paychecks.
- Ensure successful processes and training are instituted for every aspect of the guest’s dining experience: greeting from hostess, speed of order taking and food and beverage delivery, fulfillment of special requests, collection of payment & invitation to return.
- Ensures compliance with all food & beverage policies, standards and procedures by training, supervising, follow-up and hands on management.
- Ensures compliance with food handling and sanitation standards.
- Ensures staff understands and complies with local, state and Federal liquor laws.
Desired Qualifications
- Five years restaurant experience.
- Two years restaurant management experience.
- College degree preferred.
- Micros Experience Required
- Prior Marriott or Branded Hotel Experience a Plus.
- Prior Starbucks Leadership Experience is preferred
