A. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position

OR

B. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph.

Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience designing and conducting independent research studies focused on the application of genomic sequencing and methods to develop and validate research on emerging next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and their application to infectious disease research and surveillance.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.Education: Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements.
