The Associate Director Integrated Marketing for Social Impact will have primary responsibility for leading the design, execution, and management of all integrated marketing activities in support of the goals’ of WES’ Social Impact Division and departments. This includes developing and executing diverse marketing strategies that uphold the WES social impact brand; advancing the awareness of the organization’s social impact and practices; and helping to ensure that international students, immigrants, and refugees in the U.S. and Canada have equitable access to academic, career, and economic opportunities.

The Associate Director of Impact Marketing will work as a strategic marketing/business partner across multiple WES social impact teams and will partner closely with a team of experienced communications professionals to execute, measure, and continually improve the quality and impact of all marketing activities. The role will develop and grow WES’ profile and influence across multiple areas of social impact activity, including philanthropy, programmatic work, and policy advocacy. The role will support and drive efforts to engage and influence a network of external partners in the U.S. and Canada, and will deploy high-impact and right-sized marketing activities to encourage the awareness, uptake, and replication of promising social impact practices and policy recommendations. The successful candidate will have management experience, and will be adept with both digital and traditional marketing strategies.

Duties included but not limited to:

  • Managing a team of two-three marketing operations professionals
  • Managing all aspects of digital advertising and event marketing related to social impact initiatives, including strategy, development of marketing materials, metadata, and campaigns
  • Understanding and advising on the marketing goals and objectives of a diverse array of internal stakeholders in the U.S. and Canada
  • Coordinating with a team of communications and design professionals
  • Managing vendor relationships, invoicing, and purchase orders for advertising
  • Overseeing newsletter schedule, content creation, deployment, and analysis
  • Developing print and conference advertising from writing copy, routing, and deliverables
  • Maintaining advertising and promotional budgets
  • Leading the ideation and creation of output-specific and brand marketing campaigns designed to build awareness and support for WES social impact initiatives and policy priorities at the local, regional, and national levels in the U.S. and Canada
  • Effectively coordinating workflows to meet internal Social Impact needs
  • Helping to drive engagement with community-based organizations, policy makers, government agencies, universities, foundations, employers and employer associations, non-profit organizations, and others
  • Leading the development of a 2 to 3-year roadmap for WES’ stakeholder experience across various social entities, serving a spectrum of audience segments, consisting of a diverse international base
  • Establishing key metrics that will measure and monitor marketing effectiveness and offer recommendations (and act on approved recommendations) for continuous improvement and evolution
  • Providing insights to leadership, enabling colleagues to amplify mission activities
  • Ensuring alignment with and adherence to WES brand guidelines and policies

The Ideal Candidate will:

  • Have a highly collaborative style with the energy, maturity, leadership, and influence to develop and execute social impact marketing plans and deliverables that address strategic and tactical objectives while also supporting WES’ overall strategic goals and brand
  • Have strong knowledge of and experience with B2B and B2C marketing tools such as LinkedIn/Facebook/Instagram/Twitter advertising campaign platforms, Google Ads, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Google Analytics, Google Data Studio, etc. (Knowledge of Salesforce and marketing automation systems will be an advantage.)
  • Have a strong background in social enterprise settings with international and national (U.S. and CA) impact, and/or experience working in the education, government, non-profit, or philanthropic sectors
  • Have the ability to understand and navigate highly nuanced audiences and drive deep engagement across those audiences
  • Be proficient in the use of both digital and traditional marketing tools and strategies
  • Bring lived experience from immigrant, refugee, and/or international student. communities that WES serves
  • Be detail-oriented and relentless in the pursuit of quality
  • Have a continuous improvement mindset and an understanding that social outcomes (not only business outcomes) are what we’re aiming for through our social impact initiatives
  • Be an active listener and flexible thinker
  • Have management experience

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 7 years’ experience engaging communities in diverse settings through brand advocacy and effective marketing strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to articulate and present effectively to the CEO, senior leaders and diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Ability to nurture a culture of creativity and innovation while fostering a purpose and mission-driven mindset.
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration skills and ability to work across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Driven, self-starter, with ability to tackle complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Ability to understand business goals and translate them into social impact protocols and norms.
  • Track record of strong business judgment and decision-making skills, and ability to identify, prioritize, and articulate highest impact initiatives.
