The Rehabilitation Program Manager will manage and supervise the Rehabilitation Therapy Program for the ACPTC (Arizona Community Protection and Treatment Center). The program manager oversees management and programming of rehabilitation services in the ACPTC (living, learning, working, and leisure skills development) for patients we want to return to the community.
Plans, develops, implements, and monitors rehabilitation services provided on the forensic units.
Supervises staff, volunteers, and interns
Attends, participates in, coordinates, conducts in-service training and continuing education for staff and self.
Attends and participates in treatment team, department and hospital meetings/committees as assigned or as determined appropriate. Maintains space and equipment designated for rehabilitation services programming.
Develops, reviews, and revises rehabilitation policies and procedures, program descriptions and reviews patient care/quality of care. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with community rehabilitation providers.
Assists in budget development, allocates departmental budget within program and monitors; completes all reports as required.

Knowledge:
Principles and practices of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices; program development and management; techniques in supervision; principles and practices of recreational therapy, occupational therapy, and other rehabilitation related disciplines; community resources for living, learning, working, and leisure; clinical intervention, mental illness diagnosis, and crisis intervention techniques.
Skill In:
Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and evaluation skills; skills in organizational leadership, motivating others, working within a team environment and stress management skills are also important; team building, customer service centered, resolution and mediation skills.
Ability to:
Manage, provide leadership, teach, mentor and problem solve. Required to perform work at/attend meetings at alternate locations and/or travel when necessary.
The ideal candidate will have:
Completion of a specialized program in a field related to behavioral health including but not limited to rehabilitation counseling, occupational or recreational therapy, related credentials or licensure in addition to continuing education.
Must possess a Bachelor's degree in a Rehabilitation or health related field. Requires certification as a Recreational Therapist by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation (NCTRC) or be sit eligible to take the certification exam with the goal of becoming a Certified Recreational Therapist (CTRS) or specific Health related field credential. (Music Therapist - Board Certified, MT-BC; Art Therapist Registered, ATR; Occupational Therapist, OTR/L, Certified occupational therapy assistant [COTA/L] along with a bachelor's degree, Certified Educator, Health/Wellness Certified professional). Must become certified within 6 months of employment as a requirement to maintain professional/credentialed status.
- A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07.
Driving is required for State Business.
- Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
