Compensation
Works to limit the physiological and psychological effects of cardiac/pulmonary illness by provision of a safe, therapeutic, high quality program of exercise and education in an efficient, cost-effective manner. Actively promote primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular/pulmonary disease in patient population and community by education and example.
Education Required
- Must complete in-house orientation program
- Successful completion of Registered Nurse Program. BS/BA preferred.
Experience And Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Speaks, reads and writes English
- 2 years as Registered Nurse with experience in CCU, ICU, ER and/or telemetry unit.
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, risk factor modification strategies, counseling techniques, use and development of educational programs and materials.
- Evidence of arrhythmia recognition skills.
License/Certifications
- Current and valid New York State registration authorizing practice as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN)
- BLS
- ACLS
Working Conditions
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worn
- Mechanical exercise equipment.
- Frequent standing/walking.
- Sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time.
- Must be able to respond in an expedient manner to patients codes in department.
- Able to assist patients on and off exercise equipment.
