We are currently recruiting a Regional Finance Manager for a reputed client operating within the education sector in the Bronx Area.
Summary: The manager will be responsible for overseeing the annual budget process and ongoing fiscal results, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Budgeting and Reporting.
Salary: $100,000 - $105,000

Job responsibilities:
Review and analyze school budgets and forecasts for assigned regional schools.
Collaborate with the team to maintain Personnel Workbooks, ensuring accurate tracking of staffing costs, including salary, contract information, benefits, bonuses, pensions, and annuities.
Utilize payroll software reporting capabilities (e.g., Paychex Flex) to verify school employee salaries.
Review and approve Employee Requisition Forms and Employee Action Forms to ensure salary and position alignment with budgets.
Enter budget Personnel expenses into accounting software (e.g., Financial Edge) based on input from the Director for yearly budgets.
Review and approve invoices, excluding Utilities, Fuel, Telephone, Consolidated Bills, and ICS copier expenses, in accounting software (e.g., Financial Edge), ensuring compliance with GLs/Budget conformity and recording directives.
Review and approve school credit card charges in software (e.g., WORKS), verifying GLs/Budget conformity and compliance with recording directives.
Monitor General Ledger activity, run reports, and analyze data to ensure adherence to the annual budget and identify variances.
Conduct bi-monthly meetings with assigned regional school Principals to discuss budget versus actual spending, provide explanations for variances, and develop new year school budgets.
Hold regular meetings with the Regional Superintendent to review financial positions and address outstanding projects/issues.
Collaborate with the Tuition Management Office to develop tuition rates and fees for assigned regional schools and verify funds for Scholarship Awards.
Utilize Tuition Management software (e.g., SMART Tuition) to examine tuition, fees, scholarships, and discounts for adherence to the annual budget and forecast.
Apply "Economies of Scale" principles when purchasing and soliciting service contracts for assigned regional schools, coordinating with the Archdiocese procurement department when necessary.
Monitor and balance the spreadsheet of Temporary Restricted Fund donations and releases, creating Journal Entries with supporting documentation in accounting software (e.g., Financial Edge) as needed.
Meet regularly with the Regional Superintendent and Principals to develop spending plans for Temporary Restricted Funds.
Resolve Payroll and Human Resource issues and provide support to Accounting Coordinators during Payroll periods.
Support Accounting Coordinators in determining correct GL invoice coding to ensure budget adherence.
Communicate the need for Journal Entries to correct coding and shared services agreements between schools and parishes to Accounting Supervisors.
Conduct meetings to negotiate Lease shared service agreements.
Ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
Address school-related inquiries, issues, and emergencies.
Review and oversee building projects, collaborating closely with the Facilities Department from inception to completion.
Monitor school-level bank accounts.
Attend Regional Principals meetings and present financial reports.
Assist and DOE departments with inquiries regarding regional and school-level budgets, collaborating when necessary.
For Regionals with Active Board of Trustees, attend and schedule Board Meetings, prepare agendas, record and file meeting minutes, and provide financial reports.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 5 years of budgeting experience, with at least 3 years of accounting experience.
Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge or similar accounting software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and strong Excel skills.
Proven experience working in a team environment.
Experience with SMART Tuition and Paychex is preferred
