Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Recreation Therapist to join our team that can also act as an Administrative Alternative.
As a Recreation Therapist, you will be responsible for planning and implementing recreational activities and therapy programs for individuals with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. Your primary goal will be to improve the overall well-being and quality of life of our clients through engaging and therapeutic recreational activities!
And holding the additional responsibilities as a Administrative Alternative, you will be responsible for helping to apply and direct our agency’s administrative policies relating to ongoing functions and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Assessing clients' needs and developing individualized recreational therapy plans.
- Traveling to locations to meet with clientele.
- Monitoring and documenting clients' progress and adjusting therapy plans as needed.
- Providing emotional support and encouragement to clients during therapy sessions.
- Maintaining accurate records and reports of clients' participation and progress.
- Submit documentation including weekly invoicing, progress notes, and related paperwork.
- Act as an Administrative Alternative to aid the Administrator in setting forth policy and service quality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or related field
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be a Texas resident (closer to Austin the better)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Social Security Card
- Driver's License
- Auto Insurance (with 100/300/100 coverage minimum)
- Professional Liability Insurance (with $1 million/$3 million coverage limit)
- Must complete 12 hours of Administrative training (covered by us)
- Must complete post 16 additional hours (during active contract) of Administrative education (covered by us)
- At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience in a health related setting such as a home and community support services agency, a hospital, a nursing facility, a hospice, an outpatient rehabilitation center, a psychiatric facility, an intermediate care facility for individuals with an intellectual disability or related conditions, or a licensed health care delivery setting providing services for individuals with functional disabilities.
