Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Homebase Vice President of Operations and in conjunction with the overall strategies of Quext, the Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Designer at Homebase will play a crucial role in the product development process by using specialized software to create detailed technical drawings and plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Drafting and Design: Use CAD software to create 2D and 3D models, technical drawings, and plans based on project requirements and specifications.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, architects, and other professionals to understand project requirements and contribute to the design process.
Design Optimization: Review and optimize designs for functionality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Make necessary adjustments based on feedback and constraints.
Detailing: Ensure that drawings and models are accurate, complete, and adhere to relevant industry standards and regulations.
Modification and Revisions: As appropriate, revise existing designs based on feedback, changes in project requirements, or emerging issues during the construction or manufacturing phase.
Material Selection: Assist in the selection of appropriate materials and finishes based on project specifications, performance requirements, and cost considerations.
Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of design specifications, including materials, dimensions, and tolerances.
Quality Control: Perform quality checks on own work and the work of others to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
Collaboration with other Teams: Coordinate with other departments, such as production, engineering, and project management, to ensure seamless communication and integration of design elements.
Staying Current: Keep current with industry trends, new CAD software features, and advancements in design methodologies.
Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred. An associate degree or technical certification in CAD design will be considered.
Experience: Practical experience with CAD software is essential. Previous work in a relevant industry is often preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.) is a must. Knowledge of related software, such as computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), is beneficial.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are important for collaborating with team members and conveying design ideas and specifications.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve design problems creatively and efficiently.
Attention to Detail: Precision and accuracy in creating technical drawings and models are crucial to the success of the designs.
