Job Description
Atlas Tube, a divison of Zekelman Industries, is looking for a Quality Lab Techician in Birmingham, AL. This position will be reporting directly to the Quality Manager, and will primarily be responsible for overseeing the product quality for the designated shift including monitoring of ultrasonic testing, desposition of non-conforming material, and auditing inspection functions. The job may included additional duties as required by the Quality Manager or the Blytheville Management Team.
Inspection:
• Review and disposition suspect and nonconforming material.
• Assist sales with quality related questions.
• Setup, operate and monitor NDT equipment when orders call for UT testing.
• Interpret and communicate specification information to the mills.
• Using measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers for dimensional analysis
• Perform daily audits of production lines to ensure processes are being followed.
• Perform Charpy impact testing as required.
• Enter test data into SAP.
• Ensure samples are cut for product certification.
• Perform analysis of mill fluids utilizing appropriate lab equipment.
• Generate MTR data for customer shipments as required.
Qualifications:
• Ability to pass and maintain Non-Destructive Level I for UT
• Ability to utilize computers and work with Microsoft Office tools
• Excellent verbal communication and written skills
• Previous work experience in an industrial environment preferred
• Regular full-time predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule is an essential function of this role
Skills / Competencies:
• HS diploma with some post HS education or job training required or equivalent job experience
• Must be able to follow written/verbal instructions; basic computer skills, able to read a micrometer
• Exhibits effective listening, communication and interpersonal skill
• Visual Acuity to read and record numerical data
• Attention to detail, dependability, professionalism and a great work ethic
Physical Requirements:
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time to cover shift.
• Bend, Twist, Stoop, Sit, Kneel, Crawl, push and pull. Able to reach in all directions.
• Other physical requirements as needed for the job
