Overview

Wausau Supply Company Quality EngineeringIntern or Co-op will work in cross-functional improvement teams to address root causes as they pertain to product quality and quality systems. This position is responsible for identifying and implementing controls within manufacturing processes, establishing product and process standards, and reducing the overall cost of quality within WSC manufacturing operations.

Responsibilities

Duties to include, (but not limited to): Conduct in-depth process analysis to identify and eliminate sources of variation and defects Analyze processes, procedures, tools, and technologies for improvement opportunities Implement process controls using Poke Yoke techniques Conduct off-line and in-line tests to determine the relationship of process inputs and outputs Develop and maintain inspection procedures and control plans for processes and products Analyze production and inspection data for process stability, including SPC techniques Facilitate continuous improvement projects in conjunction manufacturing team members and other resources Develop and maintain quality standards that meet or exceed customer requirements Communicate material requirements with external and internal suppliers and facilitate PPAP

Qualifications

Quality Control Intern or Co-op Demonstrates: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Strong analytical skills; ability collect and evaluate data Willingness to work hands on with strong mechanical understanding Ability to work independently while portraying excellent teamwork mentality Thorough understanding of quality management system and processes including PPAP, control plans, and CAPA Ability to use various measurement tools and test equipment Ability to maintain positive moral within the production workforce Excellent Computer skills (Excel, Word, ERP, etc. - Minitab Preferred)

 

Education / Experience: Enrollment B.S. Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering Junior or Senior with previous internship/co-op and/or Academic Research experience is preferred Lean Six Sigma certification or knowledge is preferred

 

Working Demands / Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up 50 - 75 pounds 40 hours per week, working 8am-5pm

 

Reports to: Quality Supervisor

As an ESOP owner, acting with honor, integrity, and positivity is imperative. The Quality Control Intern or Co-op position's prime objective is to develop and maintain process controls that ensure product quality for WSC customers.
