Quality Engineer

SUMMARY

This position establishes and maintains the quality program for Flow Safe products and those of affiliated companies. This is done in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including new pressure relief valves and repairs. Plan, trains, organizes, and manages all activities related to Flow Safe certifications, audits, and code compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A representative summary of tasks to be performed is provided below. The employee may be asked to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically stated in this description. The duties and responsibilities of the position are to be carried out in a manner that is consistent with the mission, values, and operating principles of Flow Safe Inc.

1. Establish and maintain the quality program for Flow Safe products and sister companies in accordance with applicable codes and standards, including new pressure relief valves and repairs.
2. Maintain ISO 9001 Certification and function as the Management Representative.
3. Coordinate and maintain all Flow Safe product certifications. Approve all UV-1 certifications.
4. Coordinate audits of the quality program and all outside 3rd party certifications. Conduct supplier quality assessments.
5. Support the analysis of root cause of nonconformities and the generation of corrective actions; and ensure the proper allocation of cost for quality products according to reason for product failure.
6. Generate and maintain quality procedures, records, and documents; prepare required reports.
7. Communicate results at Management Review meetings.
8. Maintain all company master logs to stay current and relevant per company QSM, polices, and procedures.
9. Serve as Welding Coordinator, ensuring code-compliance to applicable standards and maintenance of welding log and other required documentation.
10. Optimize and maintain document release and control process to be used by all functions within Flow Safe.
11. Flexibility to support production quality, continuous improvement, Lean, and supplier/manufacturing engineering-related tasks on an as-needed basis as dictated by Engineering Manager and Operations Director.
12. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred.
• Five (5) to ten (10) years of background in quality / engineering / manufacturing.

Other Qualifications:

• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Certifications:

• ASQ or Quality Auditor certification preferred.
• Previous ISO 9001 auditor certification or ASQ certifications (CQA or CQE) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

• Technical Regulations & Standards
  • Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section IX (Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Qualifications) required.
  • Knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII (Rules for Construction of Pressure Vessels) and Section XIII (Rules for Overpressure Protection) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Marine Certifications within IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Pressure Equipment Directive 2014/68/EU and the Pressure Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 preferred.
• Engineering and Technology
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of Pressure Relief Valves preferred.
• Design - Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Problem Solving – Identifies problems and the solutions to them.
  • Knowledge of Goal Deployment Plan (GDP) or Strategy Deployment Plan (SDP) preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principals preferred.

• Travel – Based on projects, audits, etc. there will be the need to travel to Orchard Park at minimum of up to 25% of time
