POSITION SUMMARY:

The Private Wealth Management Institutional Consulting Analyst in the Graystone Team participates in overall business development of clientele by developing customized Financial Plans / Asset Allocation proposals, designing tailored reporting for new and existing institutional clients, and creating and executing marketing strategies to attract new institutional clients (e.g., performance analysis and research). The PWM Institutional Consulting Analyst is also responsible for matters of technical policy and standards, presentation materials, and performance measurement for technically advanced accounts.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for constructing and tracking investment portfolio data at the position level.
  • Works with external managers and internal investment teams.
  • Supports internal investment processes with respect to analyzing new investment positions in line with the team's and clients' asset allocation strategy.
  • Supports broader investment portfolio management processes.
  • Researches and analyzes financial markets data, financial statements, industry conditions, acquisitions and divestitures, and various investment attributes of publicly traded and privately held securities.
  • Supports the team by providing valuations of illiquid securities and liquid securities, building and/or running performance reports.
  • Supports collection of internal investment data and efficiently manages information across existing financial systems to consolidate aggregated and asset-level performance metrics.
  • Compiles advisory reports and makes informed recommendations on new investment opportunities and funds that could enhance or diversify portfolios.
  • Responsible for ongoing coverage of existing investments on a monthly (hedge funds) and quarterly (private investments) cadence.
  • Actively participates in Team Investment/Research meetings.


Qualifications:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, and SKILLS:

Education and/or Experience

  • 4+ years of work experience in a field relevant to the position required.
  • Four-year college degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Active SIE, Series 7, and Series 66 (or 63 and 65) licenses preferred.


Knowledge/Skills

  • In-depth understanding of market conditions/economic trends.
  • Ability to comfortably discuss equities, fixed income, and alternative investments.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Cultivates and develops relationships with business partners, internally and externally.
  • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability and interest in working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in technology platforms is preferred: Addepar, FactSet, PitchBook, and Bloomberg.
  • Strong skills/knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint).


Reports To:

Business Service Officer with potential dotted line to a Group Director

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $50,000 and $105,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
