WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
Our Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisors are highly-motivated individuals that are passionate about leading a committed team of 9-1-1 professionals! This dynamic career requires dedication, excellent customer service and communication skills to perform the full, first-line supervisory responsibilities including: planning, coordinating, and maintaining the activities of our 24-hour operation of the Police Communications Center.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU:
- Competitive salary - up to $126,768 annual salary ($60.95/hr)
- Holiday-in-lieu pay - 6.5% of base salary
- POST Certification pay - 2.5% to 5% depending on level of education or POST certificates
- Uniform allowance - $700 annually
- Vacation accrual commensurate with your years as a POST-certified Public Safety Dispatcher
- City contribution towards deferred compensation up to 2% base salary
- Up to $2409 monthly City contribution toward medical and dental benefits (you pay only $113.30/month for Kaiser family coverage)
- 2% at 55 CalPERS retirement formula for Classic Members and 2% at 62 for PEPRA Members
HOW TO QUALIFY:
To be eligible for consideration as a Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor, an applicant must:
- Possess a valid State of California POST Basic Certificate and Intermediate Dispatch certificate.
- High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED); and 60 college semester units, that includes coursework in administration of justice, public safety, communications, or a related field.
- Have three (3) years of responsible experience performing duties as a dispatcher in a California law enforcement agency similar to a Senior Public Safety Dispatcher in the City of San Leandro.

Panel Interview
Applicants who meet minimum standards will be contacted for an oral interview conducted by a panel of subject matter experts.
Command Interview
Applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview with San Leandro Command Staff.
Polygraph
Applicants who pass the Command Interview will be scheduled for a polygraph.
Background Investigation
Applicants who pass the polygraph will undergo a background investigation.
Medical exam and psychological evaluation
Applicants who pass the background investigation will be given a conditional offer and then be scheduled for a medical exam and psychological evaluation.
Final Job Offer

Experience and Education Guidelines: Any combination equivalent to experience and education that would most likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education:
High school diploma or certified equivalent (GED); and 60 college semester units, that includes coursework in administration of justice, public safety, communications, or a related field.
Experience:
Three years of responsible experience performing duties as a dispatcher in a California law enforcement agency similar to a Senior Public Safety Dispatcher in the City of San Leandro.
Licenses/certifications/other requirements:
Must pass a comprehensive background check and be willing to work a rotating shift schedule including, but not limited to, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and be available on call as needed; travel to attend meetings, seminars and conferences. Classification requires the possession and continued maintenance of a valid class "C" California driver's license.
Possession and maintenance of a valid POST Basic and Intermediate Dispatch certificate.
