Manager, Public Relations
Job Overview
The Public Relations Manager will assist with the overall development and execution of earned media strategies and campaigns for and companies of the Swickard Auto Group. This role will field and coordinate media requests, coordinate and manage media activities, create and manage dealership press material and deploy creative PR tactics to secure impactful earned media coverage that builds brand awareness, showcases community involvement, and supports revenue drivers.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities
• The Public Relations Manager will assist with the overall development and execution of media and campaign strategy for Swickard Auto Group.
• This role will field and coordinate media requests, coordinate and manage media activities, create and manage press material and deploy creative PR tactics to secure impactful earned media coverage that builds brand awareness
• Works with Marketing Director and executive team on the development and execution of all media strategies and campaigns
• Work directly with journalists to secure meaningful, high-impact media placements in alignment with brand standards, initiatives, and goals
• Field, coordinate, and staff PR events and activities, including but not limited to photo shoots, filming, business acquisitions, interviews, etc.
• Assist the Marketing Director with developing comprehensive PR plans and campaigns to support organizational goals.
• Work with outside organizations to develop press material, pitches and plans
• Work with external and third-party partners, PR representatives and firms, etc., to execute earned media opportunities in alignment with brand standards
• Actively participate in cross-departmental meetings, brainstorms and working sessions
• Collaborate with internal partners, including but not limited to Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, etc.
• Distribute press clips and coverage reports for initiatives to executives, internal and external partners, and other stakeholders
• Write, edit, distribute and maintain press materials, including press releases, media alerts and listings, fact sheets, biographies, etc.
• Draft message points for internal departments and executives as needed
• Assist with brand reputation management efforts
• Write, edit and maintain relevant material for Marketing & Advertising department; collaborate with and provide copywriting support for brand marketing, digital and social functions as needed
• Support HR with drafting and editing of internal communications and memorandums as needed
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or in a similar or related field
• At least three years of Public Relations experience or related field
• Extensive knowledge of media landscape with proven ability to create and foster strong relationships with local, regional and national press contacts
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe suite
• Able/willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of the orgaization.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, uphold a positive attitude and effectively deliver and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and highly collaborative “think on your feet” team environment
• Basic understanding of brand marketing, digital and social media functions
