We are currently seeking a psychiatrist who can be on our Oakland campus 2 days per week.Consultant is active in supporting and implementing recovery/resilience philosophy and an individualized, family-focused, strengths-based, culturally competent, participant-centered approach.

What You Will Do
The Consultant provides psychiatric services, working closely with multidisciplinary program staff, supporting youth or young adults dually diagnosed with mental health conditions and developmental disabilities/autismto function optimally in a residential, home, community settings or school setting. The Consultant provides medication support services and documents all services provided. Along with the rest of the team, the Consultant is active in supporting and implementing recovery/resilience philosophy and an individualized, family-focused, strengths-based, culturally competent, participant-centered approach.

Focus Population

Transition Aged Youth: Psychiatric consultant needed approximately 8 hours per week either remotely or hybrid to work closely with a multidisciplinary community-based treatment team supporting young adults with mental illness to successfully transition into adulthood. Psychiatric consultants will provide medication support services and diagnostic consultation, attend treatment reviews, prescribe psychotropic medication, and provide documentation for the STAY (Supported Housing for Transition Aged Youth) program.

Child/Adolescent: Psychiatric consultant needed approximately 10 hours/week on our Oakland campus to provide medication support services and diagnostic consultation to participants in our Oakland Specialized residential programs with dual diagnose of SED and developmental delay, as part of a multidisciplinary team who are bright, creative, and committed to helping our population succeed. Meet with participants, legal guardians, and clinicians to evaluate participants for services and psychotropic medication. Submit progress notes and billing sheets in a timely manner.

General duties -

1. Provide medication support and monitoring.
2. Document in client record.
3. Provide consultation to treatment teams.
4. Provide supervision to PNPs (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners) weekly.
5. Participate in chart reviews, team meetings and treatment planning.
6. Train PNPs and clinicians in psychotropic medication and provide coverage to PNPs.
7. Respond to psychiatric and medical emergencies.

Shifts Available
20 hrs/week - Minimum 2 days at our Oakland Campus

Salary Range
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is between $175.00 and $200.00 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):

1. MD , licensed in California or eligible for Board Certification in Psychiatry. Child Psychiatrist preferred.
2. Experience with ASD /SED children and adolescents or Transition Aged Youth population is preferred.
3. Experience in a residential, school-based, or community-based treatment setting is preferred.
4. Flexibility and willingness to be part of a team are highly desirable.
