Child & Adolescent Unit

PineRest offers a full continuum of behavioral health services and is the thirdlargest non-profit behavioral health system in the United States. Ourcomprehensive behavioral health center located in Grand Rapids, Michigan offerspsychiatric urgent care, outpatient, inpatient, partial hospitalization (dayprograms), assessment and testing, residential, addiction treatment andspecialty services such as crisis response, employee assistance programs,forensic psychiatry and psychology, neuromodulation and more.

Under general supervision and according todepartmental policies and procedures and within the individual plan of careperforms the role of physical and emotional care given to clients with mentalillness and/or developmental delays. Isresponsible to actively participate in safety management, milieu management,crisis intervention and prevention. The PsychiatricTechnician must demonstrate excellent customer service and haveenthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Providesa safe and secure environment for persons served and staff in both individualand group settings
  • Collaboratesin day-to-day planning/development of person served programming andimplementation of programs
  • Mayassist persons served with personal care. This can include bathing, shaving,washing hands, styling hair, using the bathroom, dressing, etc.)
  • Isresponsible to actively participate in safety management, crisis interventionand prevention. This also may include monitoring, assessment, de-escalation,implementation of restrictive measures, and emergency psychiatric and medicalcare
  • Maybe required to survey, document, and report and all safety repair andmaintenance needs
  • Mayperform household duties such as cleaning, cooking and laundry. Drives andescorts persons served to community outings and to appointments
  • Documentsall progress notes, medication administration, and any other relevantinformation, reporting any immediate concerns according to departmentalpolicies and procedures
  • Responsibleto monitor for and report to the designated staff any potential risk toperson's served safety that could lead to an adverse outcome
  • Maybe responsible for both random and scheduled drug testing and conductingsearches of persons served and their belongings
  • Completesreports and paperwork as needed. Thismay include incident reports, infection control reports, shift reports, etc
  • Assistsin the teaching of persons served/family. This may include social skills, dailyliving skills, and behavioral and coping techniques
  • Responsibleto role model the mission and values of the organization through appropriatesocial behavior and problem solving. Provides spiritual, emotional, social,mental, and physical support to persons served
  • Maylearn and help to accomplish treatment plans and goals of persons served
  • Assistsin the careful use of resources
  • Mayperform basic office duties including but not limited to answering phones, filing,scanning and uploading, using Microsoft Word, etc
  • Supportsand demonstrates a customer friendly approach in accordance with performance improvement
  • Involvedin training new staff
  • May be responsible to support and promote arecovery focused environment and person-centered approach within the program
  • If working in Hospital and Residential services, responsibleto role model the mission and values of the organization, presenting aprofessional image that is projected in appearance, attitudes and behaviors,time management and communication skills. Provides spiritual, emotional,social, mental and physical support to persons served
  • Responsible of obtaining the necessity ofknowledge of medications required by their position
  • May be mandated to receive training inmedication administration
  • Responsible to uphold the healing ministry ofChrist through relationships that honor integrity, stewardship, empowerment, thepromotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence
  • Must maintainannual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatictraining
  • Performs otherduties or functions as assigned

Qualifications:

Therequirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/orabilities required.

Education/Experience:
  • Completionof a minimum of six months post high school education in behavioral sciences orequivalent is preferred
  • CNAcertification or one to two years of college education is preferred

Knowledge,skills and abilities:
  • Abilityto provide care/service within the scope of: Holding a conviction to expressChrist's love and compassion to recipients of services, coworkers, andsurrounding communities through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, thepromotion of diversity, equity, inclusion, and professional excellence
  • Ability toprovide culturally inclusive care with a wide range of individuals in a diversecommunity setting
  • Requiresphysical and emotional stamina to deal with physical, emotional, social, mentaland spiritual needs of person's served
  • The candidate maybe required to have a valid Michigan driver's license and ability access toaccess Pine Rest Transportation Vehicles for the performance of job duties
  • Continuousexposure to moderately adverse environmental conditions
  • Hearingand visual acuity, manual dexterity, motor coordination, strength and enduranceare required to control agitated persons' served
