Job Description
The Psychiatric NursePractitioner is responsible for conducting psychiatric assessments anddiagnostic procedures for patients, in accordance with established standards ofpractice. This position requires evaluatingand documenting identified medical problems and report them in a timely mannerto the supervising physician.
ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS/DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:· Maintainpatient records, including nurse’s notes and medication records, physicianorder forms, assessments and other essential documentation.
· Prescribepsychotropic medication in accordance with established prescriptive practiceguidelines.
· Adhereto Universal Precautions for Infection Control and to proper procedures fordisposal of sharps.
· Participatein treating planning sessions, clinical case reviews and in-service trainingprograms.
· Adhereto the professional staff code of ethics.
· Participatein clinical supervision sessions with a supervising psychiatrist in accordancewith the Practice and Prescriptive Guidelines.
· Performall other duties as assigned.

MINIMUMKNOWLEDGE, Experience, AND SKILLSREQUIRED:
Therequirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/orabilities required to perform the job.
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Documented evidence of completion of anadvanced nursing mental health education program which is approved by anational professional nursing accrediting body.
· Experience: Documentedexperience in conducting psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic procedures. Knowledge and understanding ofbehavioral health and the capability to provide treatment consistent withstandards of professional care.
· Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal skillsto work effectively with staff, management and other professionals to achieve program objectives.
