Overview
Works under the supervision of the Protection Manager. Provides leadership in the absence of the Protection Manager to ensure the protection of facility assets, patients, staff and visitors. Ensures that protection services and assistance, as outlined by policies and procedures and management, are accomplished for visitors, patients and staff.

What you will do

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform designated functions of the Manager in the absence of the Manager. Serve as a resource to the Protection Manager in managing the daily functions of the Protection department. Provides operational leadership to staff daily and as directed by Management. Demonstrates the ability to provide on-the-job training and facility familiarity training for new or reassigned officers to the shift to enhance retention and help reduce turnover of staff. Demonstrates the ability to communicate reliably and accurately with all members of the team. Demonstrates teamwork and the ability to work effectively to maintain an environment of excellence. Demonstrates behavior that reflects values consistent with the Riverside Care Difference.
  • Maintains positive public relations with the community. Escorts employees, visitors, and patients as requested. Assists with transportation and lifting of patients as requested. Assists patients in and out of vehicles as necessary. Directs and assists patients, visitors, employees, contractors, and other members of the public to the appropriate parking areas. Directs persons to the appropriate entrance of the facility. Assists with employee, contractors, and visitor badging, ensures all persons are in compliance with established policies.
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize and accomplish assignments with accuracy and timeliness ( work assignments completed by deadlines, received minimal customer complaints). Adheres to policy and procedure. Demonstrates ability to maintain logs, SOPs and current Communication manual, Complete training modules, Inspection of Protection vehicles and vehicle equipment, fire extinguishers and equipment. Initiate performance improvement efforts and monitoring, Review goals, accomplishments, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors/supports personal and departmental productivity to meet needs of department/Center, i.e. , flexing hours, shift changes, time off.
  • Troubleshoots and provides timely follow-up of incidents involving the fire, intrusion, duress, and security alarm systems. Reviews and ensures that incidents reports are written of criminal activities, unsafe conditions or unusual circumstances, including safety and fire hazards. Records and releases lost/found and patient valuables in accordance with policy or at the direction of management. Conducts in-depth initial investigation of all criminal incidents as assigned by management with documentation.
  • Maintains and makes recommendations to published schedules and activities as evidenced by the following criteria -responds with flexibilty to changes, adapts to varying work assignments to deliver services in an effective manner. Meets weekend, off shift and holiday staffing requirements. Reports to work on time, is dependable and reliable and assists management to seek replacement for time changes of any type.
  • Ensures that systematic and unsystematic tours of facility grounds and buildings are conducted to provide for the safety and security of all persons and property and to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, criminal activity, and illegal entry. Ensures the enforcement of the facility's policy and procedures such as trespassing, smoking, parking regulations and visitation at the direction of management. Handle disorderly conduct within facility. Brings to the attention of the Supervisor, any accidents, injuries, safety matters, or protection problems. Completes NetLearning and other employee training modules necessary for position to remain up to date on safety issues, procedures and processes. Identifies opportunities for service improvement and participles in process improvement and departmental in-services. Responsible for assuring safe practices as referenced in the National Patient Safety Goals and in accordance with RHS policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to keep work area neat, clean and in compliance with RHS, DNV and State safety standards.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of the HUGS, ADT Winpak control access system and Simplex. Monitors and troubleshoots fire, intrusion, duress, medical and security alarm systems to ensure timely follow-up to events. Provides necessary leadership to ensure resolution to emergency situations. Conducts and participates in daily, weekly or monthly inspection or drills at the direction of management.


Qualifications

Education
  • High school or equivalent (Preferred)


Experience
  • Prior experience with security in a health care or other setting (Preferred)


Licenses and Certifications
  • CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Required)
  • Driver's License (Required)
