Form of workMcCallie Associates, Inc. is the prime contractor for NASA Goddard Space Flight Center's Systems Engineering Advanced Services II (SEAS II) contract. McCallie has an immediate need for a Propulsion Engineer 2 with at least 5 years of experience working on space flight propulsion programs to support on-going NASA space mission projects.
The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall perform and review engineering trade studies, analyses, test plans, and other engineering documentation such as requirements, procedures, analyses, and test reports. The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall have the engineering skills to perform chemical, mechanical, thermal, and electrical analysis and engineering evaluation related to chemical and electric propulsion systems. The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall work in a dynamic team of engineers and technicians and must have outstanding written and oral communication skills.
The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall report to a propulsion team leader and may need to direct the work of other engineers or technicians to perform tests and construction tasks on space flight hardware. The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall perform reviews at major flight project milestones (PDR, CDR, etc.) and shall have the propulsion experience and expertise needed to suggest alternative designs, point out potential weaknesses, and recommend solution paths. The Propulsion Engineer 2 shall attend anomaly review boards and shall perform investigation as needed to determine root cause and corrective action for failures and anomalies during ground test and flight.Bachelor of Sciences Degree in mechanical, aerospace, or chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
Five (5) or more years of experience working on space flight propulsion programs in an engineering capacity. Desired Skills Strong background in requirements management, interface requirements, requirements validation, verification, top-level verification planning, integration and test. Experience in end-to-end mission requirements traceability and validation.
Experience with NASA policies and procedures regarding program/project management lifecycles and systems engineering. Experience with database tools, requirements management and system architecture tools. Experience with the NASA system requirements tools such as DOORS.
Experience with testing methodologies and test planning activities. Experience with NASA Risk Management Guidelines and Processes and Tools. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) software tools.
