Job description

As a Technology Project Manager within the Pension Outsourcing team at WTW, you will play a key role for our pension business by serving as the central link between clients and internal team members in the efficient and effective delivery of client projects.  Our pension expertise, consultative approach and focus on quality are unrivaled.

The Role

As a Pension Technology Project Manager, you will play a key role for our pension outsourcing business by serving as the central link between clients and internal team members in the delivery of client projects.  You will develop and manage comprehensive project plans,  facilitate teams in delivery of multifaceted projects related to pension plan system development and maintenance, ongoing administration enhancements, plan changes and amendments,  for ongoing outsourced administration and system-only clients, as well as new client implementations.  In your Technology Project Manager role, you are key to managing and expanding client relationships, building rapport and collaboration internally with Pension Administration and Actuarial/Consulting teams, and ensuring comprehensive financial management on all projects.  You will have the opportunity to grow your project, management, consulting, client management, leadership, pension domain and technical skills and financial/business acumen.

Note: that this role may involve some travel to client sites and other WTW offices.

Clients

  • Successfully and efficiently deliver on all client technology projects; including efficient delivery of all ongoing client support work, investment work, change orders, client platform conversions and new client implementations
  • Drive superior, consistent and proactive project management for concurrent projects
  • Translate business needs into comprehensive project plans including objectives, timeline, deliverables, budget and quality standards;
  • Serve as the day to day technology project lead, ensuring the progress of teams against established goals and prioritization of expected work
  • Serve as primary, daily contact to external and internal clients on delivery of services
  • Manage technology standards and solutioning, set reasonable and achievable client expectations, manage work to ensure achievement of commitments and raise appropriate issues to Senior Consultants, Client Relationship Managers and leadership
  • Accountable for Items log tracking/reporting, meeting minutes and follow-ups, as well as follow-up/follow-through to ensure timely and accurate responsiveness to clients
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through efficient, quality execution of projects, effective communication, and value-added consulting advice
  • Understand and support the software development lifecycle

Excellence

  • Matrix Management of a team of Business Analysts, System Developers and Calculation Specialists to ensure efficient and effective delivery of ongoing services and enhancements to clients
  • Timely and accurate oversight and follow-up to trouble shoot and resolve client inquiries and escalations related to systems
  • Train clients on use of new tools and approaches
  • Contribute to the development of new tools, processes, standards and solutions to meet clients’ technology needs 
  • Follow firm and line of business processes, protocols and quality standards in the development and deployment of solutions, including adherence to all SOC requirements
  • Successfully support technology infrastructure improvements for clients
  • Identify, define, and capitalize on opportunities to improve our software quality assurance processes and tools

People

  • Collaborate with colleagues from Pension Technology, Pension Outsourcing Administration, Service Center,  Health and Welfare Administration, Consulting and Actuarial and other WTW lines of business
  • Hold regular meetings to monitor progress
  • Identify and help resolve issues
  • Motivate and provide developmental feedback to team members
  • Participate in local, regional and national meetings as requested
  • Partner with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that achieve the client’s broader business needs

Financial

  • Support monthly billing process, including WIP evaluation, monthly and annual forecasting and budget tracking/reporting
  • Scope and cost system enhancements, with assistance from technology team members
  • Contribute towards companies’ revenue goals and meet billable hour goals as defined by your manager
  • Manage budget on all projects 
  • Assist with client renewal strategy/costing
     

The Requirements

  • 5-7 years experience leading projects involving the application of technology to solve human resource needs such as:  pension plan administration, HR self service (IVR, web, etc.), HR systems integration, HR shared services or HRIS/payroll;  prior experience as a pension administration technology project manager preferred
  • Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Solid experience consulting on the fundamentals of pension plan administration and service delivery/technology solutions including best practices, marketplace providers, cost and return on investment , pros and cons of solutions, challenges and methodology regarding solution implementation
  • Proven experience in successfully leading project teams with multifaceted, competing priorities and deadlines, including matrix management of virtual work teams with members in different geographic regions, both nationally and globally
  • Strong interpersonal and client management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, integrative and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational abilities and flexibility to work in a performance driven environment
  • Sense of accountability, owning one’s work and taking pride in it;  commitment to quality and continuous improvement
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes and work with others to coordinate client priorities
  • Desire to learn, accept new challenges, and have fun
