Project Geologist or Engineer
New Jersey (Hybrid NY/NJ Metro Region)
This position will report to the Market Area Director for the Insurance sector and have both office and field responsibilities throughout the New Jersey / New York region.
Responsibilities
- Perform, coordinate, and oversee site investigation activities leading to remediation for a diverse base of environmental projects including: UST Closures, ISRA PA/ASTM Phase I ESAs, ASTM Phase IIs, Remedial Investigations, and Remedial Actions
- Serve as a project manager for a sub-set of projects within the group managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk
- Design and oversee remediation treatment systems
- Install and manage monitoring wells
- Keep organized field notes, including logging soil types
- Manage subcontractor field operations
- Prepare and review project documents and deliverables
- Communicate with clients, contractors, and counsel
- Mentor and train junior field staff
Travel
- Minimum one day per week work in the NJ office
- Regular field work on project sites across New Jersey, New York, and other states as needed
- Domestic travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology or Hydrogeology; advanced degree preferred, but not required
- OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour certification required; additional safety certifications a plus
- Minimum 5-10 years relevant experience
- In depth knowledge of New York State DEC regulations and protocols
- Must be able to clear a federal government background investigation
- Professional licensure (PG, PE, LSRP, CGWP, etc.) a plus
- Experience managing and running remediation treatment systems
- Site investigation and remediation experience in New Jersey and New York (additional states a plus)
- PFAS experience a plus
- Working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations preferred
- Team player attitude with a high degree of self-motivation
- Strong communications, report writing, and management skills
- Computer proficient, including the Microsoft Office suite
