PROGRAM THERAPIST


Apex Recovery Rehab of San Diego, CA is looking to hire a full-time Program Therapist to provide care for our veterans. Are you a licensed or unlicensed mental health professional who has experience with substance use and chemical dependency issues? We also offer medical, dental, vision, a new 401(k) plan that will be available at the end of the first quarter, and paid time off (PTO) that starts accruing on day one. JOB TYPE: Full-time

WORK SCHEDULE: 32 to 40 hrs. per week

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Social Work, Clinical Counseling
  • Active or registered intern status with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
  • 2+ years of clinical experience, ideally working directly with substance use/co-occurring disorder clients.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to actively listen
  • Solid relationship-building capabilities
  • A positive and compassionate attitude
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize needs
  • Willingness to stay updated on new treatments, protocols, and licensure requirements within the field
  • Passion for advancing the therapy field
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPR/First Aid
  • BBS Registered
  • CADC preferred
  • LMFT preferred

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Be considered a competent and qualified professional in the respective field.
  • Possess a genuine interest in and concern for chemically dependent persons.
  • Possess ability and interest in acquiring professional growth through continuing education.
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with all center personnel, professional staff, representatives from government and community agencies, clients and their families, and the public.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Completing biopsychosocial assessments
  • assessing for safety risk to self or others
  • developing safety contracts in high-risk situations
  • facilitating individual, group, family and couples therapy utilizing empirically supported modalities
  • developing treatment plans consistent with individualized treatment goals
  • assisting in discharge planning
  • collaborating with family and community support
  • providing milieu support and crisis communication
  • completing incident reports
  • overseeing weekly group schedule
  • supporting admission and discharges of clients.

  1. Client Care:
  • Accurately assess and treat those with chemical dependency.
  • Collaborates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team to work to establish and emphasize a client's specific needs and optimize treatment plan.
  • Supports and re-evaluates effectiveness of services following any behavioral concerns.
  • Assists in admission of new clients to treatment programs.
  1. Documentation:
  • Completes appropriate clinical documentation for all services provided.
  • Completes thorough assessment of biological, psychological and social history as it contributes to substance use.
  • Notifies the Clinical Director if paperwork gets behind and gives a verbal plan of correction.
  • Completes incident reports following any critical incident.
  1. Supervision:
  • Participates in weekly group supervision.
  • Participates in weekly individual supervision as determined by BBS licensing guidelines.
  • Provides clinical training for direct care staff.
  • Participates in weekly Lead meetings.
  1. Customer Service:

Achieves quality client care through co-operation, teamwork, and effective communication as evidenced by:

  • Consistently communicates in a positive and professional manner with staff members, clients, and visitors.
  • Gives appropriate feedback regarding the condition of assigned clients to the supervisor.
  • Follows directions given by the Clinical Director and accepts responsibility for completing assigned duties.
  • Effectively communicates with clients, families, and members of the treatment team.
  • Demonstrates proper telephone communication skills.
  • Listens carefully and objectively to others.
  • Communicates with others in a concise, tactful, and considerate manner.
  • Communicates effectively with peers to facilitate client care.
  • Demonstrates ability to intercede with client and family concerns.
  • Shows an understanding of Cultural Differences and is sensitive to them.
  • Handles problems in a professional and proactive manner. Ensures that the client, guest, co-worker is satisfied with the outcome.
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the team and ensure that communication is clear, accurate, and professional.
