Overview:
This is a 100-year old family-owned company that continues to grow in the plastics space. This role is open as a result of a promotion – the incumbent was promoted to a plant manager at another facility within the organization. Overall this company has 10 facilities in the US and their HQ is connected to this facility in Rhode Island. Overall, the manufacturing site is about 90 people and the HQ/Lab has about 450 people. As a result of it's proximity to HQ, this role is very visible within the company and the avenues for personal growth will be into higher level ops roles, business roles or supply chain roles.
What you will do:
This role has direct supervision over 7 people, 3 hourly and 4 salaried positions, across 3 shifts that run 24 hours a day, 5 days a week. The average tenure of the operators at the site is 18 years and the plant manager describes the culture as cohesive and high-functioning. The challenges with this role are largely people-oriented; in particular, they are facing the same thing everyone is facing in terms of talent retention amongst hourly roles and also in motivating the work-force to increasing levels of production. There are several capital projects coming down the line in the next few years and this role will interact with those projects.
Minimum Requirements:
B.S. degree in Engineering or Chemistry is required. Should have a minimum of 5 years of overall industry experience, with at least some prior management responsibility or hands-on leadership responsibility. They could hire someone who is in an individual contributor role but has had some hand-on leadership experience and is looking to take that next step. In terms of industry backgrounds – something involving plastics would be ideal, but can consider chemicals manufacturing, foods manufacturing, and other related heavy industry
