Summary:
• The Product Engineer (PE) Team Member is responsible for the product design & engineering of assigned projects.
• The assigned projects can range from a Full Service Supplier role to a Build-to-Print feasibility role.
• The PE will be the lead technical interface between the Company and the Customer, in this "cradle to grave” role.
• The PE will also support the assigned Program Manager at key Customer meetings and interface with the project manufacturing team to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed Customer expectations.
• The PE will stay involved in the testing and development and will be required to diagnose problems, subscribe solutions, and implement and verify the solutions.
• Coordination with our internal technical partners in Kentucky and Morsbach as well as Customers in the Metro area will be important to exchange ideas and technical information.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Prepare required technical quote documents, including support documents:
• Technical Quote Summary.
• Analysis Specification.
• Feasibility Analysis.
• Support the preparation of quote documents:
• Engineering Design & Testing (mountain chart) program estimate(s).
• Provide fundamental product design direction, including:
• Identification of Customer Specifications & Customer Specific Requirements.
• Development of GD&T.
• Dimensional Stack Up studies.
• Development of Special Characteristics.
• Development / determination of Performance & Material Specifications.
• Analytical Design Verification techniques (CAE).
• Negotiate & confirm Key Program event dates:
• Production Design Intent Design Release date(s); 3D CAD & 2D drawings.
• Design Verification Testing (initiation & completion).
• Production Design Release (OK-to-Tool) date(s); 3D CAD & 2D drawings.
• Prepare & execute fundamental Technical Discipline documents:
• DFMEA
• DVP&R
• Coordinate, confirm & report Design Verification testing.
• Analytical Design Verification (CAE).
• Physical Design Verification (functional part testing).
• Confer, negotiate & agree Design Feasibility with cross functional activities.
• Approve MoNA prepared 3D CAD & 2D detail drawings (internal & external).
• Maintain design records:
• BOM.
• Design Change Log.
• Stack Up study(ies).
• Material Specifications.
• Performance Specifications.
• TQS (at program gateway events).
• Maintains a working knowledge of new manufacturing technologies and develops designs appropriately to best advance the technology in the best interests of the company.
Education and/or Experience:
• Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline (preferred) and / or extensive appropriate industrial experience engineering complex exterior injection molded parts.
• Masters Degree in either Engineering or Business is desirable but not required.
• Plastic Injection Molding product design & manufacturing process experience with an emphasis on Engineering Grade Resins.
Computer Skills:
• A working knowledge of personal computers and Windows based applications (powerpoint / excel / outlook / word / project) is necessary.
• Entry level expertise in appropriate 3D CAD software such as UG, CATIA V5 or Solidworks is desirable but not required.
• Working knowledge of customer IT systems (WERS, AV-BOM, GPDS, e-FDVS or GM equivalent)
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Must maintain a current passport.
