This Principal Software Engineer will be part of the emerging technologies workstream to explore new technology / solution / products and influence the engineering team on alternate design options. JOB DUTIES: Responsibilities of the incumbents are across functional lines with individuals assigned in new program development and/or evaluation new technology, pattern for our state-of-the-art AWS platform. This individual will also work collaboratively with other Architecture and System engineering teams to ensure cross-functional goals are met.

• Lead role in exploring solutions across multiple system components
• Works independently on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution and prototype the alternate solution
• Build the prototype solutions and influence the dev teams on new pattern advantages
• Adopt the new features in cloud / software product / Languages and share the reference pattern.
• Translate the new technical features into business / platform capabilities
• Optimize the existing solutions in terms of cost and performance
• Mentor and assist software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction as needed
• Maintains high standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits

Basic qualifications:

• Position requires a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
• 10+ years of software development experience
• 8+ years of experience in designing and developing software applications in Java and Python including experience with microservices (Spring Boot and/or Flask)
• 5+ years of experience building production grade services in AWS Cloud
• 2 years of demonstrated experience leading software engineering projects.

Top candidates will also have:

• AWS Certified Solution Architect – Professional
• Previous experience in technical innovation or emerging technologies team.
• Extensive experience with AWS products (ex KDA, Kinesis, OpenSearch, Dynamo, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS, etc…)
• Demonstrated Technical leadership on medium to large-scale projects impacting strategic priorities.
• Solid understanding on data engineering pipeline designs to prepare the data the ML models and other analytics use cases.
• Ability to effectively prioritize, delegate responsibilities and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Passion for technology and an eagerness to contribute to a team-oriented environment
