Principal Quant Developer

In your role as Quant Solutions Specialist (Principal Quant Developer), you will work closely with quant researchers to understand their technology needs and deliver solutions for them, either through enterprising code written by research analyst or build solutions directly yourself. You will be responsible for a library of quant research tools shared by researchers across all asset classes. Your work will span software engineering and quant research, using your knowledge of both good engineering practice, architecture, and agile development, along with domain expertise in research processes and quant datasets.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • A Bachelor's degree, or higher, in computer science, engineering, mathematics, or finance.

  • 5+ years of software development and/or data engineering experience in quantitative finance.

  • Experience working in quant research environments, and with tools and datasets, at a best-in-class quant research group.

  • Proven track record working in agile environments to deliver high-quality solutions on time.

  • Significant experience with software engineering best practices and a track record delivering production-quality code.

  • Expertise with tools and technologies used in the quant research process including Python (Pandas and NumPy), R, and FactSet

  • Experience implementing quant models, factors, or tools in both research and production pipelines

  • Expertise in the software development lifecycle using agile techniques

  • Familiarity with the quant research process and exposure to quant research across multiple asset classes

  • Highly proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet objectives under minimal direction.

  • Experience with Cloud-native platforms (AWS, Snowflake, etc.)

  • Use your skills and experience to develop a common library of utilities quant researchers can use across varied use cases, research workflows, and asset classes

  • Refactor various quant research needs into reusable solutions and shape researcher requirements to better use common frameworks.

  • Support researchers in using the technologies you develop, providing documentation, education, and technology evangelism across various research groups

  • Develop production-quality code with outstanding code coverage and regression testing across a suite of libraries. Handle aspects of the release process, dependency conflicts, and other production-related aspects to make the offering enterprise-grade

  • Advocating for researchers' needs in design efforts covering backend systems like data management and code sharing

  • Develop a roadmap, achieve your timelines, and provide guidance to executives on progress and key opportunities

The Team

Asset Management Technology (AMT) provides worldwide technology and support to all the Investment Management, Research, Trading, and Investment Operations functions. We are seeking a Principal Quant Developer to join our Quantitative Research & Investing Technology organization. This role will be part of our Quantitative Engineering team, which is responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining a new quant research oriented meta-data programming language.

The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$179,000 per year.

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
