TheProgram/Project Managerswork with executive and director level business leaders to understand the strategic objectives for major business change initiatives and define the tactical projects to realize these objectives. The Program/Project Manager leads the projects through building effective relationships with business leaders, project team and project stakeholders.In this role, you willbalance the demands of multiple projects or larger programs by taking ownership for delivering project objectives and deliverables. Drives project execution within established scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Leads project teams of cross-functional resources in matrixed environment by using Optum standard project management methodologies, processes, and procedures. The Program/Project Manager may have responsibility to lead, coach and mentor other PMO team members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Identifies opportunities for improving the customer experience including opportunities for increased productivity, reduced costs and supporting the quadruple aims of high-quality, high-value services and outstanding patient and provider experience
  • Partners with project sponsors and stakeholders to develop the Lean Business Case including definition of project objectives, scope, assumptions, and constraints to ensure projects are aligned with business goals and strategies
  • Defines and validates acceptance criteria for the project to ensure the requester is satisfied upon project completion
  • Forecasts resource needs based on the alignment of team member skills and project portfolio demands
  • Leads the development of a comprehensive communication plan with team members, stakeholders and / or customers
  • Proactively drives creative resolutions to project issues and risk mitigation strategies which are recommended to project sponsors and management
  • Measures program performance using appropriate tools and techniques in order to monitor the progress of the project, identifies and quantifies variances, and performs required corrective actions; all with appropriate communication to related stakeholders
  • Responsible for proactive oversight of the Change Management process needed to communicate and reset expectations due to unexpected variances to project scope, schedule, and cost baselines. Ensures project closure activities including gathering/sharing lessons learned and facilitating post-mortems
  • Creates management reports and presentations (as required) to keep project sponsor and other leaders and stakeholders up to date on the schedule, budget and deliverable status
  • Supports PMO management in refining project management practices and implementing them throughout the PMO

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Business Administration, Health Administration, Computer Science, MIS or related field OR 8+ years of project management experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects implementing business change and the integration of cross-functional solutions
  • 5+ years of experience working within a PMO and agile methodologies
  • Intermediate level of proficiency withMicrosoft Office products, especially MS Project, Excel, Visio and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in related field
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Certified Scrum Master Certification
  • Healthcare or clinic operations experience preferred
  • Experience working with project management software such as Aha, Plainview, Clarity

  • Excellent time management skills. Able to work on multiple concurrent activities. Able to prioritize personal workload and team work load to optimize project delivery
  • Self-directed and motivated with strong analytical skills, systematic and orderly planning abilities, and high attention to details
  • Customer-focused attitude and ability to work proactively and efficiently with appropriate urgency
