Summary:

PerkinElmer OneSource, the market leader in life science managed services is searching for a key contributor to our Multi-Vendor Service Enablement Team.  This role will be for a Waters LC (Liquid Chromatography) Subject Matter Expert (SME), whose primary responsibility will be to schedule and conduct service training classes for PerkinElmer field engineers. Additionally, the SME will provide remote and on-site (as needed) technical support to assist field engineers with instrument repairs. This person will have access to a training lab facility (minimally US-Connecticut, potentially international) with a variety of Waters instruments that must be maintained for training/support purposes.

Responsibilities:

  • Train Field Service Engineers on new and existing Waters equipment to the level of being certified in live one week long training seminars in Shelton, CT.
  • Schedule and coordinate attendance to monthly training seminars for Field Service Engineer staff.
  • Use existing training already created but also be able to create new trainings when new instrumentation is released.
  • Learn any new instrumentation to the level of being able to train and certify others on it.
  • When not hosting a training session in CT (usually one week per month), candidate will work remotely out of their home office answering inbound calls from engineers in the field who need additional assistance repairing the equipment.
  • Infrequently, in cases where walking through equipment repair is not enough, candidate will be required to travel on site to fix equipment in person.
  • The Waters SME is expected to identify new courses and assist in the acquisition of additional instruments as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of Liquid Chromatography (LC)
  • Solid knowledge and experience repairing Waters instrumentation.
  • Ability to travel on average once a month to Connecticut to run 4-5 day trainings
  • Ability to travel to customer sites (on occasion but infrequently) to repair equipment if it cannot be explained via telephone to on site Field Service Engineer or if no Field Service Engineers are available to resolve the issue.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a technical trainer and/or designing curriculum.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to clearly communicate and explain complex technical instructions.
  • Desire to be part of a dynamic and interactive team.
  • Ability to work outside normal hours when needed to assist Engineers in the Field.

Working Environment:

  • Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
  • Job pace may be fast and job completion demands may be high.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
  • The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite. Frequently operate on instruments, objects, tools or controls, which will require regularly bending, squatting, stretching and reaching in order to perform in a service function.
  • Occasionally move or lift up to 25 pounds (potential for occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include without limitation, the ability to observe details at close range distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in order to perform the essential service functions of this position.
  • Occasionally operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer and Outlook email.
  • Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
  • Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, hazardous chemicals.
  • May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against animal allergens where animals are present in the laboratory environment.

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $94,000 to $141,000. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
